Where have we gone sideways?

Every cop who walks the beat, Every LE who patrols the neighborhood KNOWS who the gangbangers are. No One here can refute that fact, The cops on the street KNOW who the crimals are.

WHY re the cop's hands tied? WHY do the cops have to second guess their actions every day? DEMOCRAT Politicians are the answer. Democrat Politicians do NOTHING other than to protect the very same criminals that they took an oath to protect the law abiding citizens from.

WHY do we continue to allow these TRAITORS to keep destroying our country? WHY do we keep allowing these Criminal Enablers to continue their efforts at OUR expense? WHY haven't we stormed their houses and offices with pitchforks/torches and tar and them out of town on a rail?

We have allowed these Traitors to gain power and will continue to do so until we revolt against these enemies of the state.

The Hour is 22:49, 11 minutes to destruction unless we stop this .

Being in a gang is not illegal in and of itself. Granted, a lot of illegal activity is performed by members of gangs, but a lot of illegal activity is performed by those who are not members of gangs. The officers can only detain those who they can prove have committed an illegal activity.

When I took my initial FCCL class, one of the instructors was a cook county corrections officer, he was complaining about how the law does not make those who have been arrested multiple times ineligible to receive a license. I didnt believe that was the place to bring up that opinion, nor the objections that (1) an arrest is not a conviction, and (2) if the evidence for the arrest is not enough for the prosecution to make their case then the police are ineffective at their jobs or the prosecutor is.

Yet, there are groups that are on watch lists. There are red flag laws being scribbled and scratched together than identify persons and groups with the intent of rounding them up and disarming them in order to prevent what they have determined to be inevitable.

Not an opinion rather an observation.

A few reasons that quickly come to mind are the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th and 14th amendments. Criminals or not the criminals and the accused have rights and for sure those rights should not be violated.

Liken their rights to our 2nd amendment rights, the gov gets a foot in the door to trample the 4th amendment rights of Dopey McSmokey, then next week they get a leg in the door on the other side of the county to trample on Smokey McDopey. Before long they've have two legs in the door of every household including the non accused.

Like it or not rights are rights for everyone.

why are your hands tied where you have to beg the government to help?

The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Get certified to do conceal carry classes and teach poor people to police their own communities. Do it for no charge. I hear the right wing talking point parroted all the time, they lack personal responsibility. So give them the tools and personal responsibility to take back their neighborhoods. Walking away from antigun politicians will follow.

Cops don't know who's selling untaxed cigs or dimebags VS murdering people, so they just cast a really big net. It's why their homicide clearance rate is so low, because now you've turned that loose cigarette seller against you. But people in the neighborhoods know who the bad actors are. I'd argue many of those homicides are self defense or revenge by prohibited firearm carriers.

I'm guessing you don't actually live in a community affected by gang violence, but have been programmed by the left right PsyOp to beg for rights to be removed. Giving the Democrats' foot soldiers more civil liberty violating power will be used against you. If you don't want to exercise your skills to help people, don't parrot a call to action for laws to hurt your invisible enemies. They will actually be used against you instead.

By saying "the Dums are protecting criminals" to someone that leans left they're hearing the Dums are vanguards of civil liberty, we know what a lie that is. The bipartisan screwjob means more cops, less civil liberties.

There are constitutional rights to own arms, to have reasonable bail, and to have a jury trial, but there is no right to parole or probation.

On 9/22/75, Sara Jane Moore tried to assassinate the President of the United States. Moore was sentenced to life in prison for trying to assassinate the President of the United States. After serving 30 years of her life sentence, Moore is enjoying parole as you read this.

SHE IS NOT AN EXCEPTION!

Two and a half weeks earlier, on 9/5/75, Manson Family member and whack job if there ever was one, Squeaky Fromme tried to assassinate the President of the United States. She too was sentenced to life in prison for trying to assassinate the President of the United States. After serving less than 34 years of her life sentence, Fromme is enjoying parole as you read this (she lives with her convicted killer boyfriend in a house decorated with skulls).

On 7/28/80, a drunken Clarence Busch killed 13-year-old Cari Lightner in a hit-and-run incident. Busch had been released on bail two days earlier, for a previous hit-and-run drunk driving crash -- after being convicted in two previous drunk driving incidents with a third one plea-bargained down to a "reckless accident".

At the time of Cari's killing, Busch still held a valid drivers license.

In 1979, Patrick Purdy was arrested for extortion and possession of dangerous weapons. In 1980, Purdy was arrested for sex crimes. In 1982, he was arrested for drugs. In 1983, weapons, again. In 1983 again, stolen property. In 1984, attempted robbery. In 1987, weapons again -- and resisting arrest.

In 1988, Purdy passed a 15 day California background check and was given a permit to buy an AK-47.

On 1/17/89, Purdy entered the playground of the Cleveland Elementary School and killed 5 children and wounded 29 other children and one teacher with that AK-47.

As he slept in a rest stop, James Jordan was killed by two punks with a gun. One was out after serving 24 months of a 6 year sentence for taking an axe to a teenage girl (note: he was released less than a month before the murder, if he had served 25 months, Jordan might still be alive); the other was out after jumping bail FOR THE SECOND TIME on charges that he took a brick to the head of an old lady (note: while there is a right to bail, there is no right to bail jumping -- if he had been held after the first bail jump, Jordan might still be alive).

When they approached that car, they knew they could kill that sleeping Black man and get away with it. Maybe they had before, or maybe they knew of others who had. And they were right -- until it was established that the unknown Black man was the father of a famous basketball player. It was only then that the criminal justice system came after them in earnest.

After Norman Mailer wrote the "The Executioner's Song", Jack Abbott (who was in prison for forgery, escape, bank robbery, and killing a fellow inmate) contacted Mailer and offered to write a book about prison life. Abbott's book was titled "In the Belly of the Beast".

Mailer was so impressed by Abbott's work, that he sponsored his parole and brought the convicted killer to New York City where he became a celebrity in the literary circles that Mailer frequented.

On 7/18/81, six weeks after being released, Abbott killed a waiter, Richard Adan, with a knife.

Even after Adan's murder, Abbott was openly supported by celebrities.

Although Mailer later admitted it was a mistake, at the time he was arrogant about his protege's fall from grace. "Art demands risks", he insisted.

"The Onion Field" murder commanded front page headlines all over the nation. The Joseph Wambaugh novel about the crime and trial was made into a movie (Ted Danson played the executed police officer, Ian Campbell).

On 9/12/63, Smith and Powell were sentenced to death for the cold-blooded, execution style murder of an on-duty, uniformed, police officer.

In 1967, their convictions were voided because of Miranda.

In the retrial that ran from January of 1968 to November of 1969 (and you thought OJ Simpson's 15 month trial was something), Smith and Powell were sentenced to life in prison.

On 2/24/82, Jimmy Lee Smith was paroled.

On 2/14/2018, Nikolas Cruz shot up the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. CNN reported that in the months leading up to the massacre, at least 45 calls were made to the sheriff's office about Cruz and his family. Sheriff Scott Israel says the number involving Nikolas was 23. Because of behavior and threats, Cruz was transferred to six different schools in three years -- and expelled once. Two school counselors recommenced him for involuntary commitment.

Four years prior, on 11/5/2013, the Broward County School Board and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel signed an agreement with the NAACP that, among other things, stated:

WHEREAS ... the use of arrests and referrals to the criminal justice system may decrease a student’s chance of graduation, entering higher education, joining the military, and getting a job ...

Before making an arrest of a student for misbehavior ... a law enforcement officer shall follow the steps ...

STEP 7. After exhausting all of the above options, the officer may consider placing the student under arrest.

Despite the numerous red-flags, Cruz never made it to Step 7, an arrest. Consequently, with a clean record, he passed an FBI-run background check, and was legally entitled to buy two AR-15 style rifles.

I will continue to say, this isn't an issue for politicians, law enforcement, or judicial system to fix. This is a moral issue that we as a society have accepted this behavior and the undermining of the family values that has gotten us to this point. Lacking the moral principals and guidance that use to be common place at home, how else would you expect children/teenagers to behave? My behavior was not regulated by the law or law enforcement or even my teachers, but the guidance that my father would instill on my behind if I didn't behave properly.

In addition, contrary to popular belief, not everyone is a winner, nor can you be anything you want to be. Instead of bringing up are children and helping them find what they are the best in and encouraging that growth, we build unrealistic expectations that then leave them with the inability to function in the real world.

So, I don't blame law enforcement or the judicial system. Until family values are restored, we will continue the downward spiral.

I would agree it’s a moral issue to a point, but morals are taught. I have 5 young daughters and I give strict boundaries. No loud, obnoxious behavior at a restaurant or similar situations. Their may be other children running and horsing around, but if it’s not the time or place for that kind of behavior then I don’t allow it. I was told this before I had kids and I tell those who will listen that kids WANT BOUNDARIES. I’ve added this to the advice I was given: If you don’t give your kids boundaries then society will, and in some cases those boundaries are an 8x8 cell. Yes, kids (and adults) will push the boundaries to make sure they’re strong, but if there’s not an appropriate response to the rebelling then people will push more.

The reason I wrote all of that is this: the legal system’s purpose is to punish criminals swiftly and appropriately. When that doesn’t happen, like in liberal urban areas such as Chicago, then people don’t respect nor obey the law. Fox’s office has chosen not to prosecute major offenses, when it does, the judges will often go easy on the offenders. The lesson that is learned is one may commit a heinous crime and possibly not get caught or not get convicted or not get appropriately punished, so more heinous crimes are committed.

It’s a horrible cycle of immoral people allowing an ineffective judicial system create more immoral people and so on.

What’s the solution? In my opinion, the country is too large. A representative government cannot govern 300 plus million people well. We need to split into small units of government. That will probably not happen because our state religion of public education has made it heresy to mention decentralization and secession, and you will be shouted down as a proponent of slavery. So we just have to wait until the dollar is inflated to worthlessness and the US empire is no longer able to be financed. Happy happy, joy joy.

STOP the condescending attacks on other members, please. Asking nicely this time.

There is a threat to conservatism in anti constitutional conservatives. Debatable if you could even call them that, I'd rather lump them in with the fascist neoliberal left.

Everyone else hit the nail on the head, it's about family values and making sure you love and protect your neighbors without begging for government intervention. We can volenteer our time in several ways to pass these values onto less fortunate communities, it's a very Christian thing to do.

But there is this new crop of vote casting "right wingers" that through poor family planning, poor financial planning, and godless lifestyles have found themselves weak, old, poor, and without the next generation looking after them. Desperately they turn to more government as their saviors.

I'm surprised to see so many threads like this pop up on IC. If that offends you go right ahead and ban me.

While doing a Tom Brokaw live shot in the “hood” years ago, I asked our CPD team leader why the dealers and heroin shacks (Pre-meth) we’re allowed to continue to operate... he had pointed out the nearby drug spots, the story was about a mom who sent her 8th grade son to live in rural Iowa to get away form drugs and gangs. He indicated, with a hand gesture, that it was about the money.

There is probably a way to “discourage“ such bad behavior.

It may not be pretty.

The originally proposed First Amendment was never ratified.

That would-be First Amendment said that, once it all settles out, each representative in the House will serve no more than 50,000 people. Think about that! They wanted to ensure a barrier to professional politicians. Fifty thousand citizens, most of whom were farmers and laborers, can not support one full-time parasite.

The Framers wanted one citizen-representative for every 30,000 to 50,000 people. If you had the literacy and the money to send a letter to your citizen-representative, it would get his attention. Letters from five hundred constituents would get his attention even more.

When they fixed the size of the House at 435 in 1910 (which would have been a violation of the would-be First Amendment), it was one rep to to 215,000 citizens. Today, it is one professional representative to every 570,000 people -- more than ten times what the Founders wanted!!!

As Jeff Jacoby put it in a 1999 column, "It is an iron law of politics that the more constituents an elected official is answerable to, the less he is answerable to anybody."

For your consideration, here are some current comparisons: with about 2/5ths of our population, Japan's House of Councillors has 242 seats with another 475 in its House of Representatives; with a quarter of our population, the German Bundestag has 709 seats; with a fifth of our population, the French Assemblée Nationale has 577 seats; with a bit less than a fifth of our population, the British House of Commons has 650 seats.

That, and as VannDaddy notes, states are rapidly becoming administrative districts rather than sovereign entities.

I waited a bit, backed off from this thread, before I came back and read the responses. I wanted to give myself time to mull it over in a rational mind-set before I posted anything in response.

I think TRJ's response (first after the OP) hits the nail on the head.

WHAT can "I" do about it? My answer - Besides voting for PRO law-and-order candidates, and speaking up when the cops look the other way, or a Judge allows a multiple offender to walk the streets with less than a slap on the wrist. I really can't do anything.

However - I do NOT live in the places that have willingly allowed their communities to become taken over by the criminals. AND YES - I say "WILLINGLY", as THEY have done NOTHING to stop the criminal activity. They have done nothing but avert their eyes when folks they KNOW commit atrocities. The have done nothing but Scream that "The Man" is keeping them down, and then decry the police, and the system, when positive actions are taken against the criminals.

The ONLY thing that will reverse this situation is for the local folks to take matters in their own hands, and actively attack the criminal element on their streets and neighborhoods. And yes, by attack I mean they need to arm themselves and do what needs to be done. THEY know who the criminals in their own neighborhoods are. They know where the criminals live and where they hang out.

AS many on here have posted - The police can't do it. The judges are unwilling to hand down meaningful sentences. Heck, the politicians WON'T do anything, and it's my opinion that the politicians PREFER it this way.

It's up to the people to effect the change needed.

Freedom and democracy can be messy. I’ll take all the a**-hattery you guys are raving about over living under a religious or political tyranny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Denial springs eternal.

You cannot have a civil society without it also being a moral society and you cannot have a moral society without all participants agreeing on what is 'moral'.

This is why our republic was intentionally founded on judeo/christian principles. (see below)

Without religion you end up with political tyranny, without reason you end up with religious tyranny. You need both to balance the other.

But, keep denying what is becoming more evident every day. The further we move away from God the worse we get.

"Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is divine. . . . Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other." ~James Wilson, Signer of the Constitution; U. S. Supreme Court Justice,

"The moral principles and precepts contained in the scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws. . . All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible." ~ Noah Webster, author of the first American Speller and the first Dictionary

"Religion and morality are the essential pillars of civil society." ~ George Washington, General of the Revolutionary Army, president of the Constitutional Convention, First President of the United States of America, Father of our nation,

"[O]nly a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters... Whereas true religion and good morals are the only solid foundations of public liberty and happiness . . . it is hereby earnestly recommended to the several States to take the most effectual measures for the encouragement thereof." ~ Benjamin Franklin, Signer of the Declaration of Independence

People love to quote Jefferson in a letter he wrote to the Danbury Baptist Association where he famously stated there is a wall of separation between church and state but conveniently overlook the fact that he was affirming that government can take no actions to establish a religion (all Americans must be Baptist) NOR can they do anything to prevent the free exercise of one's religion (Kim Davis anyone?).

Your original post seemed be advocating vigilante action which would be outside the law and outside the code of conduct in that it would be promoting illegal activity.

Molly, I understand your stance and know why you believe you have to censor real suggestions on how to stop the continuing 'self-victimization of these communities - you feel that you have to protect this site. I get it. (and I hold no ire towards you for your effort). However, censoring effective ways to stop cold-blooded killers only continues to allow the communities that allowed this to happen does nothing to stop their plight.

These same "Victimized" communities allowed it to happen, and now they look to those outside their community to fix what they allowed. Unfortunately, when the folks they scream to help them take active steps to help, the same folks cry "OPPRESSION" from the rooftops.

What is the answer other than Self-Policing"???? Noone can help those who refuse to take the necessary steps to help themselves.

There are a LOT of folks on this site that romanticize Paul Kersey, and they aren't censored. Why is that? He was the ultimate vigilante, but they suggest his actions are justified with no repercussions. You designate my comments as "Vigilantism", and I take no truck with that, but those who elevate Paul Kersey to godlike status are left to post unhindered.

Question - What is more effective in stopping the murderers, gangs, etc... than the effected community taking the necessary steps to STOP the heinous crime?

The Police are hand-cuffed by the same community that cry for help. The Judges that serve these communities return murderers to the streets with NO meaningful sentences. The elected politicians who 'represent' these same communities do NOTHING but profit from the crimes. What alternative does the concerned citizen have to correct this horrible situation?

I hope you have a great night.

Mike.

Surely you don't want 5,000+ representatives?

I don't buy the "no career politicians" angle either, Chicago wards have ~50,000 people and there's still career politicians and corruption galore.

I can't read or keep up with every single post. Someone would have to point out those other posts to me, Posts advocating breaking the law violate the code of conduct.

The answer is simple to me - we must be able and prepared to protect ourselves and our loved ones at every turn and at any moment. We must help others to be prepared for the same. We need to elect legislators who support and advocate for the same. We need to plead with our pastors and churches to lead the way in protecting our neighborhoods from career criminals.

Molly, Pastors and Preachers, almost by definition, are passivists. They preach Love and Acceptance. Saying "I Love You" is an excessively ineffective defense against someone who is determined to take a life.

In the tone of your post, I ask if you have ever heard the term "Christian Soldier"? They fight the evil that is determined to destroy a civilized society. And by 'Fight', i do mean destroy.

There are necessary "Evils" (if you will.....) that are required to maintain civilized society. People don't like to admit it, but they KNOW it is necessary in their heart.

Unfortunately, those that take the necessary steps to maintain/restore civilized society are often Demonized publicly by those who secretly applaud their efforts.

The Appearance overrides the actual need of the action. Society often destroys those who act to benefit it.

Molly, I do NOT want this to become a "Me vs. You" thing. I have the utmost respect for you, and understand that you have to take the steps to protect this site. I just feel that that censoring harsh Truth about things not the best way.

BTW - I have met you a few times. I am sure you don't remember me as I am a pretty generic, non-descript type of guy, but you always had a certain..... "look" ( for lack of a better term) that made you very memorable. Please don't "#metoo" me over this, as I mean no disrespect.

Have a Great night.

Mike

Molly,

If new laws in ILLannoy go their seemingly inevitable way, let's suppose that everyone has to turn in their so-called "assault weapons."

In that event, it is obvious that folks on this forum will be screaming non-compliance.

Will they be told they're violating the Code of Conduct?

At what point does the switch flip? Because it seems that day is coming.

It's a very interesting and very possible dilemma for you and others who control this forum.
