Call to Action 2/16/2020 - Witness Slips Needed!

Correct me if I am wrong. 3016 takes the state sales tax which is around 6%, and reduces that down to 1% for guns safes, thus is a 5% reduction in purchase price for gun safes? That's how I am reading this. Correct?

Thats my understanding and hence the PROPONENT call in Mausers post. Some that would seem to be pro 2A have submitted Opponent slips.

There's been some confusion on HB3016.

If you look at the Full Text, and remove the parts that don't apply, the law would read (if passed):

Sec. 3-10. Rate of tax. Unless otherwise provided in this
Section, the tax imposed by this Act is at the rate of 6.25% of
either the selling price or the fair market value, if any, of
the tangible personal property.
...
With respect to gun safes and locks designed to secure
firearms, beginning on January 1, 2020, the tax is imposed at
the rate of 1%.

In other words, the rate "otherwise provided in this Section" would become 1% instead of 6.25%, a reduction of 5.25 percentage points.

IF / when they reschedule the hearing, it will be a whole NEW slew of witness slips.

It will be a game of "keeping it from the gunnies" as long as they can while accumulating opposing slips.
