Plinkermostly Posted August 18, 2018 at 02:52 PM Share Posted August 18, 2018 at 02:52 PM I believe my CCL is up for renewal in February 2019. I got mine with the first wave of issues. Given the ISP is “overworked and understaffed,” I was wondering where we sit on renewal. Like have the training requirements been finalized? Are the renewal procedures established? Is there any plan in place?
dennyg Posted August 18, 2018 at 03:26 PM Share Posted August 18, 2018 at 03:26 PM Doesnt seem to be much information forthcoming, like how soon before expiration can we apply? Id like to get mine in asap.
soundguy Posted August 18, 2018 at 03:49 PM Share Posted August 18, 2018 at 03:49 PM There are a couple threads discussing different aspects of this. Some instructors are already offering the 3 hour cause. A response on the thread below suggests you can renew as soon as the RENEW button appears when you log into the ISP website. http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69754&hl=
Plinkermostly Posted August 20, 2018 at 12:10 PM Author Share Posted August 20, 2018 at 12:10 PM I believe that (logon for renewal) is for FOID. For CCL: I also believe that there are training requirements? Classroom? Is there also a fingerprint (not again!)? Firing? Has the ISP released a course? Approved instructors? InterestedBystander Posted August 20, 2018 at 01:27 PM Share Posted August 20, 2018 at 01:27 PM I believe that (logon for renewal) is for FOID. For CCL: I also believe that there are training requirements? Classroom? Is there also a fingerprint (not again!)? Firing? Has the ISP released a course? Approved instructors? Check the couple of other renewal threads. It is a 3 hr course. ISP specified topics to cover in classroom followed by same shooting requirements as with original training. Fingerprints not required. Approved instructors need to have their submitted 3 hr course approved by ISP, but ISP does not put together the course. Renewal certificate has been released by the ISP and classes are being offered now but renewal submission is not open yet. Best guesses are renew button should go active around 6 months prior but no one knows yet. Sounds like one should expect time for processing to be the same as a new app. It is unclear if there is also an LE objection period again. It sounds like ISP is still working on finalizing details. GWBH Posted August 21, 2018 at 01:45 PM Share Posted August 21, 2018 at 01:45 PM THE KING, in another thread stated that his "renew" button became available at 90 days from expiration. http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69754
Quiet Observer Posted August 22, 2018 at 01:05 AM Share Posted August 22, 2018 at 01:05 AM THE KING, in another thread stated that his "renew" button became available at 90 days from expiration. http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69754 I think that he might be referring to his FOID, not CCL. The first CCLs were issued 02/28/2014 and have an expiration date of 02/19. 90 days prior would be, very roughly, Nov. 28. I was part of the first group issued CCLs. My account does not show a Renew button.
