...DEERFIELD State Senator Julie Morrison (D-Lake Forest) issued the following statement in response to Attorney General Kwame Y. Raouls decision to join 18 attorneys general in supporting Californias ban on large-capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

"There is absolutely no reason an everyday person needs to have possession of large-capacity magazines. The heartbreaking devastation caused by gun violence across the country cannot be overstated and must be put to an end. Californias ban is a great first step toward protecting public safety, and the rest of the country needs to follow suit.

"I thank Attorney General Raoul for his compassion and dedication toward defending this common sense measure to keep communities safe."...

AG Raoul amicus brief...full article at link

...CHICAGO Attorney General Kwame Raoul joined a coalition of 18 attorneys general to defend Californias ban on large-capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. In an amicus brief filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, Raoul and the coalition support Californias petition for en banc review in Duncan v. Becerra, a case in which a divided three-judge panel struck down Californias ban. The brief argues that the Second Amendment allows states to enact reasonable firearm restrictions that protect public safety.

States have a responsibility to protect residents from gun violence within their borders, and it is essential for states to be able to enact commonsense restrictions, such as prohibitions on large-capacity magazines, Raoul said. Like California, Illinois is focused on reducing gun violence in our communities, and we must be able to collaborate at the state level with law enforcement agencies and lawmakers to develop and implement reasonable firearm regulations....

I think they're preping for a major gun/mag ban. Whats the odds we can do anything to prevent it?

Well, the first step is to make sure the courts keep getting stacked with pro-civil rights/pro-constitution judges, which means dont vote Democrat if you care about your gun rights. Its a hard pill to swallow for many, and many gun owners will vote against their own rights because theyre tied up with labels and emotions, not thinking of the consequences of their actions at the ballot box. Cant fix stupid I guess

Getting out to vote and not voting for anti 2A candidates comes up every election and it just doesnt seem to get enough out to care.

A recent TX poll I read about had over 50% of first time gun buyers favoring Biden. Don't they know his policy plan is bans and confiscating buybacks?

Here in IL, I wont be surprised to see another push for at least SB1966 at the end of year session (Ive seen a couple of twitter references lately). I know the Chicago area pushes a lot of votes blue but how many of our 2M+ FOID holders are getting out to vote?

All this begs the question, what do we do with our equipment if this comes to pass? Ive been filling out the Illinois form designating what gun it is and what its used for since the 70s. They may be totally Fing up the FOID system but If the ISP gets the order they’ll come hard and fast in a ban/confiscation scheme. You can bet your AR they will not underfund that edict.

I’d have most of my stuff at a family members house on the other side of the Mississippi before the governor’s ink was dry. Then I’d call a realtor can get out of here.

Yep, it would be as simple as moving it all over the border to my mother-in-law's house in Indiana, depending... we have plans to move to Indiana next spring. So it may be irrelevant for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

Morrison is the state senator that abused her office to push through a bunch of poorly thought out measures for watercraft safety after her nephew was killed in a boating accident. She probably still owes favors to Terry Link for that one although they are probably all trying to distance themselves from him. Melinda Bush was the awkward kid sister chasing along behind in all of it. Look for her to continue to follow Morrison's lead on all things.

Fingers crossed, the feds nab Morrison and Bush for their dealings with Link. There has to be something there after seeing all the shady stuff they pulled at the public watercraft safety hearings.
