I wonder if it was in part the attention they got after posting the video of Morrison?

Good lord, what the heck is going on

ZCXfH9p.jpg

Looks like more infighting between groups. If someone on our side is responsible for this, this is beyond ridiculous. We wont win this way

Not accusing any one side btw, just putting this out there. Trying to get more info

There are so many sides, I can’t keep track. IGOT seems to be critical of every other group, especially Illinois Carry. The members are crass, crude and cruel even among their own members. I have warned members to not mention pricing or link to any page that sells guns to no apparent avail. The members would rather fight and fling insults than take common sense advice.

I just discovered IGOT and some other Illinois-based Facebook groups a few weeks ago and I am not impressed by the behavior in some of them. I stick around because they each provide good information about the 2A fight and I want the groups to stick around for that very reason. But for me, Illinois Carry is my “home base” as it were for concealed carry and 2A information and I defend this page when I can without bashing other pages or groups. I think the rule here about not bashing other 2A groups should serve as an example to other groups.

Here’s where we’re at for possible causes:

Most likely:
-Julie Morrison or her pals got ticked off because of the initial social media raid after her censorship comment and reported the group
-Anti Gun trolls got into the group and began mass reporting group members
-anti gun people reported the closed group (we all know FB will shut down Gun stuff if they get complaints)

Least likely, but still plausible:
-other pro gun group(s) did the same things the antis may have done, but did so to thin the competition.

I’m hoping it’s the anti gun trolls. Like we don’t have spies in closed MDA groups LOL. Bunch of white male hating feminazis. Lots of great comments to report. Will hold off until we get more info

IGOT does not believe ILCarry had anything to do with this. I personally don’t either.

OK that is good to know, thanks. I’m sorry if I mistakenly implied that. I hope IGOT gets reinstated ASAP, but I also hope this serves as a wake-up call in the 2A community. I belong to one brand-specific gun group on Facebook that got the same message, and they were able to appeal and get reinstated in about a week.

We can all laugh ourselves silly as the Biden/AOC/Sanders/Warren etc. factions tear each other apart within the Democratic party but it won’t be so funny if it happens to us on the pro-2A side, especially with the NRA leadership crumbling as it is.

To add to the fire with those folks, this is not a good look

And I agree with the pro-2A side comment. I myself have no loyalty to one specific group. I believe they all have their place and strengthens/weaknesses. We need as many as possible to appeal to all people on our side. I sincerely hope IGOT getting booted was not due to another group’s jealously or bad blood between them

IGOT house is and was a mess, too many mods, too many admins, not enough checking of people spouting off with hate speech and derogatory terms. Place is a mess. A group like that could do so much good, but it is being run poorly.

OK I have one other thing to say and then I think that will be the end of my rant. My apologies if I have offended anyone thus far. I hope that as we move forward, the leaders of the Facebook groups representing Illinois gun owners will step out of the shadows and reveal who they are. Take all due credit for the good, solid and timely information you provide, but on the other hand take responsibility for the insults and misinformation that you post too. It’s all-too-easy to direct insults at Molly, Richard Pearson at ISRA and others when no one knows your name.

Got it. Don’t know who, but doesn’t matter

Fact is, there are many people/groups who have different ways to go about achieving the goals that we all want. If each and every one of them stopped with the “I’m/we’re better than (insert group) because (insert reason)” we could have a united front that would be much stronger than the antis. We don’t though, we have many smaller groups that are at odds with one another. I don’t pretend to know all of the behind the scenes stuff, but it’s pathetic that everyone who is a proponent of the 2nd amendment can’t work together

With the implosion of the NRA, bickering, infighting, posturing, and narcissism abounding in some Illinois 2A groups...it's no wonder that many of the gains we've made are by leaderLESS/ independent movements.

We can do better, but only if the emotional immaturity gives way to people who are actually MISSION oriented - not self centered.

It is good that IL gun owners have multiple platforms to communicate on, some of which are not controlled by big tech.

If Illinois Carry for example disappeared we would be much more beholden to big tech.

Thus why I don’t use my name for any stuff I find or my group finds. We don’t care about glory, only advancing the cause and helping the larger organizations out with the findings. And I know exactly what you’re talking about :)

Were people saying foul things about Julie Morrison and using bad language to do so?

I did some comment removal on the ISRA Facebook page for this and similar reasons.

Some people were, but I’m not even sure who’s who. There’s over 1600 comments on her FB post regarding censorship. This was posted the same day the Breitbart article dropped and she was getting hit on all sides.

All of her recent posts are getting swarmed. IGOT members made the first comments about censorship (i don't think there was anything out of line). After the Breitbart article dropped, it drew a lot of attention to her account. Some of the comments would definitely be considered threats
