Yes the 14 is this year, then your FOID # at some point the people that have a CCL wont be renewing a FOID card just the CCL Card

If you don't have a CCL you will have to get a FOID

I think that is wrong. I'm sure we need BOTH FOID and CCW cards. You should not be able to buy a firearm or ammo with a CCW card.

Why not? We have been talking about trying to get rid of the FOID card anyway. Really why have it? We now are supposed to call in during a firearm transaction to make sure the card is good .

Besides , CCL holders have been checked out much more thoroughly than any FOID card holder ever was.

READ Brent's comment. He says "At some point........" Meaning sometime in the future. If you'll READ the law you'll find that there is a provision for the FOID and the FCCL to be melded together into the same card. YES, presently you need both. But "AT SOME POINT" it's possible that you won't.

Read and make sure you understand before you put your fingers in gear.

Thanks,

Tim

abolt243 , I was not replying to Brent Payne's comment. I was replying only to the last line of gstrom99's comment. I might have misunderstood his meaning in that last line and if that was the case I am sorry.

Just so you know , I have read the law and I do know that there is a provision to combine the two cards " in the future" ! I don't like the idea either.

I stand by my statement . Why would we want to combine the two cards when we should be putting our efforts into getting rid of the FOID card completely.

By the way , I did understand what I was replying to before I put my fingers in gear.

In addition, your FCCL can be revoked for reasons under the ac, but you still can retain your FOID card.
