CCW and DUI

Ive seen this question asked before but could not find an answer to my particular question. Ive been holding back on applying for my CCW because of the 5 year wait for being court ordered to drug/alcohol treatment. In 2013 I was convicted of a DUI and ordered to take alcohol classes. I was a level 2 risk and I completed my classes in April of 2016. Im unsure as to whether that 5 year period begins when I was court ordered or when I completed my classes and had been planning on waiting until April 2021 to apply. I guess Im worried if I apply and get denied because they go by the date I completed classes then an appeal would take much longer than just waiting another year to apply from now. However Ive been debating just applying recently because I cant see how my completion date would be on any record that would come up in a background check and have begun to think the only thing that would show up is the court order date. If anyone could help shed some light on my situation or has any knowledge on how this time frame is determined Id greatly appreciate it. Ive searched many times and cant seem to come up with a definitive answer anywhere I look.

I thought you could have 1 just not 2 within the last 5 years?

Never mind, just saw the Court ordered treatment clause.

This is true of minor DUIs - mild/moderate assessment but a DUI assessment of significant or high risk involves 'treatment for substance abuse' and the treatment results in a 5 yr. disqualification.

Significant – Eval + 10 hrs. victim impact + 20 hrs. counseling

High risk – Eval + victim impact + 75 hrs. counseling

I have a similar problem, I got a dui Feb of 2019. I completed everything, and have 10 more months of court supervision before I am completely finished. I just completed my 16hr CCL class and received my certificate. I have not applied for my CCL yet. Now, finding out about the alcohol treatment 5yr wait, I am unsure what to do. Any advice? I was moderate risk since I refused to blow. I completed Eval + 10hrs. victim impact + 12hrs of counseling. Am I sol for the 5 years? If not, am I sol until my court supervision is finished? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think you're okay on the moderate risk but the supervision is a snag, unless you can negotiate an early release from the supervision, or negotiate removal of firearm prohibition from the supervision. Does it specifically list firearm prohibition on your Court orders?

It doesn't mention anything about firearms in my court orders. Honestly, I'm perfectly happy waiting until my supervision is up. I was more worried about the 5yr hold...thats quite a long time. Is there any sort of expiration date on the 16hr CCL class? Or say I have to wait 10 months - Can I use the certificate I received yesterday?
