dunno

..."Republicans also complained that the budget doesn’t prevent them from getting a cost of living raise this year. The raises are automatic unless the Legislature votes to stop them. Nothing in the budget documents specifically stops the raises.

Steans, though, said there isn’t money in the budget to pay the raises and that Comptroller Susana Mendoza’s office told her that would be sufficient to stop them."...

And now the Springfield House and Senate is on summer vacation until Nov. 17th. it doesn't even include the 3 month spring break with that pay raise. And the entire time they hide behind Lord Jabba Ruler of Illinois. What a sweet gig they have. I wonder if any of them filed for Covid-19 unemployment during the spring session.

What I read today from State Representative Patrick Windhorst our rep is that the pay raise is automatic unless they vote TO NOT DO IT! They democraps refused that amendment so it will go through with out them having to vote on it.

I believe Madigan has the responsibility to call it for a vote. He also holds the power not to. Illinois is doomed.

Umm, how about Aldermen? They actually get paid to shake down their constituents.

So do our State Congress and Senate, except they call it taxation and it becomes a legal shake down.

Who's gonna pay for that salary increase while businesses are shutdown and some people can not go to work or have been laid off?

All the people in the state who received a corona virus bonus from the federal govt.

Looking to move just south of Nashville. Hate to make my kids leave their current school, but I can't take it anymore.

When are the feds going to finally look up Madigan's dress?

They probably won't until he is 6 feet under where there can be no "recovery" of "assets".

Nashville's a good area. The Washington County state lake is just south of town. Good fishing, camping areas, and the state used to have a "put & take" pheasant hunting area in the fields around the lake. Got my first ever pheasant there many years ago. But you need dogs for it as it can be very brushy.

From Senator Manar's email update:

"Additionally, despite misinformation circulating on social media, there is no pay raise for legislators in the state budget approved for fiscal year 2021. Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza, who heads the state office responsible for processing state payroll, reaffirmed this week that legislators will be paid the same amount as last year.

“The General Assembly appropriated no money for legislative COLAs, so lawmakers will be paid the same amount as last year.” Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza. 5/26/20"

Comptroller Mendoza had a short video posted on her Facebook page explaining that, while there is a COLA built into the budget every year, this year it was funded in the amount of $0.00. Small consolation, but at least they won't be getting a raise.

This is supposed to be the voting record for the pay raises.

Senate votes http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/votehistory/101/senate/10100SB0264_05202020_002000T.pdf

The language of the bill is pretty much hidden on the ILGA website unless you want to go through the 658 pages of HA 5

Got me to wondering what other Full-Time legislators make around the country - fortunately someone else already did the data gathering so all I have to do is share the link -

Why do these guys always vote themselves a pay raise in the worst of times?? Nobody at my company is getting a merit raise this year and I suspect those of us who still have jobs are all in the same boat. Millions are unemployed. This is nothing but a slap in the face!

The guy across the street from us works for the state as a janitor at one of the state office buildings in Springfield. He was saying that yesterday was his last day of double time pay. According to him, he's been getting double time since JB started with his EO's. It kinda pi**ed me off when he was telling us that.
