Posted the relevant parts.

Rush, a school nurse, wants to see stronger gun control laws. She attended a few meetings of the organization Moms Demand Action but found the activism only traumatized her.

Boyle, too, turned to Moms Demand Action and has attended every school board meeting since the shooting. The 42-year-old owns a gun and served eight years in the military. She supports gun rights but has also worked to pass stricter gun control laws in some cases, saying it "made no sense to me" that the gunman was able to buy an AR-15 rifle at age 18.

Before the tragedy, the two women were never close but always friendly. Their kids had gone to the same elementary school. Rush's ex-husband coached Boyle's son's soccer team.

A year after the shooting, they are no longer in contact. Rush declined to be interviewed with Boyle, saying she disagreed with her on gun control and politics.

Boyle said that she texted Rush a couple of times last year to check in, but that they haven't kept in touch on social media or in real life.

"She was very upset at me because I was a little more pro-gun than her, and she wasn't very happy about that," Boyle said. "I definitely pushed for laws, and I definitely said we need stronger laws, but I guess for whatever reason we really didn't stay friends on Facebook or anything."

Rush, a fiery woman with a wry sense of humor, said shooting didn't unite the community, as some said or hoped; it did the opposite. "This community has fractured into two factions now," she said those who are trying to turn schools into "fortresses" and those who want to crack down on guns.

"And they fight like you wouldn't believe on Facebook," Rush said. "It's gross. It's disgusting."

I don't see the negative about Bloomberg's moms. I see more Parkland gun control propaganda with words like anguish, searing, emblematic, terrified, despair, terror, tragedy.

At the end she calls people who want more school security and to preserve their rights gross and disgusting.

This. She said the moms don’t want to solve the problem (harden schools), only ban guns

Yeah but how is that different than any other two people who have a difference of opinion?

The title of the thread was that this was an article that was critical about MDA and it really isn't. Just says two people in org disagree. Lots of organizations have internal disagreements. Just look at how people here view the NRA to see examples of that!

This thread is a big meh burger!

If youve dealt with the inside of MDA, youd know exactly what shes talking about.

But continue worrying about the $2500 the NRA got from membership dues and magazine subscribers that are living in Russia, as thats just super controversial

While I certainly understand the knee-jerk reaction of some people when they call for the banning of guns after mass shootings, I find it absolutely unacceptable to stay on that simplistic train of non-thought for any length of time. It indicates to me that the person I'm talking to is incapable of thinking.

The reality is, most humans just want simple solutions. They don't want to know how to fix a flat tire or change a car battery. They just want to pay someone to take care of the details. The same thing with mass shootings. No one wants to know anything about the gun laws we currently have. No one wants to know about the nuts and bolts of guns (what guns can do what). But they sure have strong opinions about things they're completely ignorant about!

I've honestly had about enough of even discussing the issue of mass shootings for a lifetime. I will vote for politicians who share my opinions, but I'm not interested in facebook flame wars anymore. I'm done giving any deference to people who want to take my rights. I won't be polite to them. They are evil tyrants. Yet, they'd like to portray ME as the evil one. End of story.

Here is a little positive feedback on the florida school shooting. This will get the anti's panties in a knot. Imagine hiring heavily armed combat vets to patrol school hallways.

They have worked very hard to, as Sal Alinsky would say, pick a target freeze it and polarize it.

They have created an entire fake image that EVERYONE in America wants their brand of "common sense" gun laws (draconian gun control). But they say it's the NRA and that evil gun lobby that are preventing them from implementing gun bans.

The mainstream media even acknowledging that there is another side to the dialog that is represented by common folks like us is a huge gain.

The article is negative for MDA/Everytown because it destroys their entire talk track. When you personalize 2 sides to a viewpoint, whatever it is, that's a win in the arena of one sided journalism (on both sides of any issue).
