korgs130 Posted August 21, 2019 at 04:09 AM Share Posted August 21, 2019 at 04:09 AM Here is Dan Crenshaw on Louder with Crowder (post red flag tweet). He discusses: - Why the AR-15 is the ideal home defense tool - What the TAPS Act does (gives $ to local law enforcement for threat assessment) - Red Flag Laws The discussion on Red Flag Laws is really interesting. Steven Crowder asks tough questions which Crenshaw doesn’t dodge. He does make several good points, among them is the fact that there is a conversation that needs to be had about RFL. Conservatives need to be involved in that conversation to ensure that any law includes clear language that safe guards due process and protects against abuse. You should listen, it starts at the 42:00 min mark. To be clear, I don’t support red flag laws. https://youtu.be/m_EeFzR_yAA

Conservatives need to be involved in that conversation to ensure that any law includes clear language that safe guards due process and protects against abuse.Vid summarized as:-Supports and coauthor's TAPS to allow local law enforcement the same "analytics" (spying) tools as federal agencies-"we monopolize the use of force as a government to prevent injustice"-doesn't admit that suppressed PDW's are the best home defense weapon but SBR and silencer laws make them difficult for everyone's grandma to own (reference to the video).-says red flag laws fill the "information gap" between felons purchasing guns and law breakers possessing guns, but glazes over that there's already laws against that-when Crowder points out the due process violation, he goes back to this "information gap" platitude. Vaguely touches on what a red flag is, property confiscation without a crime committed or enough threat of harm to baker act someone.-"where we don't want to arrest someone and take away their liberty" but still want to take their guns for a vague threat that can't be prosecuted as a criminal threat. -calls to pass a law to violate due process without violating due process

If indeed this is him new way of thinking, or is he inadvertently allowing these Anti's to put words into his mouth, and putting far more into a situation that's factual. chislinger Posted August 21, 2019 at 08:50 PM Share Posted August 21, 2019 at 08:50 PM There is no evidence whatsoever that suicides can be prevented by removing firearms from the equation. In fact the evidence is overwhelming that gun availability has absolutely no effect on suicide rates, only the method. The US suicide rate is right at the western European average, if firearms availability were a factor we'd expect it to be far higher. And in fact it's far lower than in gun-free Japan. There's an infinite number of ways to commit suicide, and shooting is just one of them. But these RFLs are being sold as a way to prevent suicide, which they have no hope whatsoever of doing. mrmagloo Posted August 21, 2019 at 09:04 PM Share Posted August 21, 2019 at 09:04 PM Sure would like to see who's arse they pulled this data from. Seems to me there should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 66,000 Felons who were sentenced to lenghty prison sentences in the last year or two just from 2017. chicagoresident Posted August 22, 2019 at 05:09 AM Share Posted August 22, 2019 at 05:09 AM Still waiting to hear one credible argument where "red flag laws" fill in an "information gap" (quoting Crenshaw's own words) between law abiding gun owner and criminal threat + judicial warrant (where evidence is collected). How do you have due process on anything less, judges already rubber stamp warrants for this stuff.
Sweeper13 Posted August 22, 2019 at 10:48 AM Share Posted August 22, 2019 at 10:48 AM These red flag laws should be left to the state. We see how these laws are causing issues and questions about our 2a rights and due process. We know that once you give the Left an inch they are taking the whole measuring system. He should probably have a talk with Rubio, see how things went for him on Immigration.
