  1. I was gonna ask some questions about why? why? don't they already? for what purpose? and why? But then, the answers are obvious. They don't want guns anywhere in the state.
  2. I did all the research a few years ago and settled on CCW Ssfe. I spoke with reps for both companies and CCW Safe was a better fit for my expectations. Again, hope to never need it.
  3. Forgive me if this sounds...ignorant. In regards to the language about magazines that are readily convertible to hold extra rounds past the amount defined as illegal by PICA, I totally understand why we would want ISP to be clear on their language. Right now, I believe their sacred FAQs state that a 15 round pistol magazine (or a 10 round rifle magazine) that could accept a magazine extension is not illegal simply because it can be converted. I also understand that with shotguns, the extension tube issue is a real big deal because it basically turns any semi-auto shotgun into a so-called assault weapon. To my question, are we at all concerned that if we keep pressing the issue of magazine extensions that JCAR will just up an say, "Well, I guess that would make all magazines with removeable baseplates illegal because they can be converted"? Or are we pressing for a definitive ruling from JCAR because the holy ISP FAQs are not going to stand it court for the first poor soul that may be brought up on that charge? Maybe this is not the place to answer (loose lips and sinking ships and all)...
  4. I don't think JB will try to pull the same type of stunt. During the pandemic he did not close down gun shops because he knew the Constitutional ramifications. He could have doubled down on masking while carrying during the pandemic as well, but did not push ISP to do that. I am not saying he is a saint, but he also has his sights set on the White House. This order by the NM gov is going to get shredded. JB knows he cannot afford those optics, on top of the fact that PICA will will eventually be found unconstitutional. He is playing a longer game.
  5. Here is a fairly decent write up about the hearing. It also serves as a decent summary of how we got to where we are with the court cases. At least to my eyes it seems pretty objective. https://cookcountyrecord.com/stories/641608400-battle-over-il-gun-ban-expanding-setting-stage-for-big-showdown-to-come-before-chicago-fed-appeals-court The entire article is too long to copy/paste here.
  6. All of the above is great research, but now I feel sick to my stomach that it is so blatant and still there is a hesitancy to recuse. If not this, then what does it take?
  7. No money to harden schools? Or am I missing something, which is entirely possible.
  8. I've noticed that there has been no clarification like JB put out when we all had to wear masks during the Covid declaration to keep the ISP and DA's from charging otherwise lawful carriers. This tells you a lot. So....just quit carrying any semi-auto until/if this stupid law gets an injunction?
  9. Anyone have any experience with the Critical Decision CCW classes out of Aurora, especially the full 16 hour one? Any feedback about any of their CCW classes appreciated.
  10. Just saw it as well. My question is what does this do to the 3-pronged approach we have already heard about? Is this part of it? Is it premature?
  11. If they have an expiration date, will they check? Or will then check anyway because they know that IL has enacted this (stupid) new law? That is the million-dollar question. I am thinking that to avoid any liability, they may decide to call...if they are still going to sell to IL. But, until now, they haven't done that anyway if you have a card that shows a valid date. What a bunch of BS.
  12. With respect the online ammo sales... If I have just recently updated my FOID card with online merchants after waiting 15 months, so now they have my current FOID with the expiration date 10 years from now, what is to keep me from just letting them have that documentation if I get the new, non-dated card? I would really like someone's opinion about the issue above. Secondly, based on a previous post, cards issued starting 1-1-2022 and all other current, dated cards will be replaced with the new non-dated cards during the 2022 year. Does anyone think the ISP is going to be able to turn over 1.5+ million cards in one year when they are just now beginning to keep up with current applications and renewals?
  13. You are right...CCL is not affected. I misread it. All the same, it is a shame that this state is so screwed up with its permission slip that we have to be afraid of having our CCL and other rights messed with over it.
  14. The only fly in the ointment might be SB1966. If you are in the renewal pipeline IF it becomes law, will you be grandfathered in until your next renewal? IDK, I am just putting it out there.
