Employer and CC

I didn't want to hijack the other thread but if this one needs merged I understand.

My employer is a retail establishment (gas station/convenience store). They made the decision to ban concealed carry and start putting up the signs. Part of me wants to post the corporate number and request calls to complain about this policy. I am also curious to see how many people actually just go ahead and call and say they lost a customer due to this. What are everyone's thought and what would you do?

You mean post the number here or on the door? Some things you have to just roll with the punches. This sounds like one of those things. Being a private employer, they do have the right to post it even if we are against that policy. We as consumers also have the right to complain about it to the business.

I would not post a sign that specifically addresses complaining about CC. As Craigcelia said, that could get you in trouble with corporate.

You could post a sign with the corporate customer service number. You could just label it "Customer Service" or "How are we doing? Let us know?"

Those who have a problem with banning CC will get the idea.

About five years ago a local fast food franchise was posted. I emailed the corporate office, told them i would no longer be patronizing the place or any other franchise if the sign remained up,and about a week later it was down. Making it known that there will be a loss of business and a brush taken to the whole corporation at the hands of one franchisee does work. If this decision was made at the corporate level, then complaints to corporate will get noticed, Whether or not they reverse their decision remains to be seen, but complaints have to stand a chance of reversal.

So youre in the Corp offices? Are they posted? I am sure the corp office will be posted.

And the business you work for is gas/convenience? Yes.

And did they make this a Corp wide decision? Yes

Do the site managers have a say? No

Or is this about the gas place you stop at in particular? And if YOU are at Corp you may want to be very careful about stepping on the companies toes! This is the company I work for.

If/when your biz gets posted Just add it here..

http://www.rightapp.net/input/DisplayIllinois.php

..and the the public do its thing...

Alot of businesses have taken down the signs when they were told that folks would take their $$$'s elsewhere.

It will likely take a couple weeks for the stores to get the signs posted but once they do I will add it to the list. I'm certain calls will be made before I do that. My concern is our competition is not posting their stores so we are just asking for lost business.

I'm guessing, but not suggesting, that the vast majority of customers (even carrying ones) will just ignore it. It would be interesting to know the stats on something like this,

but obviously that data is impossible to collect.

Thats certainly a possibility...

But not impossible to begin to figure out...

Lets start a poll

Who regularly carries in GFZ's?

Who are you.. where and when do you carry in GFZ's?

:D  :D

If this is a national chain, then carrying in a GFZ in many states isn't even a misdemeanor, unless it's a federal building or a school. Illinois (along with those few others) is special that way.

Who regularly carries in GFZ's?

Who are you.. where and when do you carry in GFZ's?

Should we post our full name and address, along with a video of us displaying a firearm while walking past a sign? Otherwise, why believe us just because we say it?

Should we keep score?

1 point for a McDonald's or BW3.

5 points for an elementary school.

10 points for a post office.

50 points for a nuclear facility.

The winner gets a free dinner of apple sauce and pureed chicken.

I think I got this right.

You work in the corporate office of XYZ Corporation. They are planning to have all their retail outlets posted.

You want to know if it would be beneficial for you to post the corporate phone number here to have us call and complain.

What little response that you might get here will have no effect on the company's decision. It does not matter what products they sell.

It would take lots and lots of calls and letters from actual customers, once the signs go up, to have any effect.

Bubbacs,

I think that you are going beyond the scope of the OP, should he post the company phone number here.

The decisions about postings and locations would be made by corporate with the advice of its lawyers.

I think your questions here are inviting another endless debate about posting with "concealed means concealed", the definition of "knowingly", owner vs. renter of site, etc.

The company may have stations outside of Illinois, also.

I am not discounting the validity of some of the arguments that I listed, and some I did not. I just think they have already been discussed ad nauseum on this forum.

Where it stands: Going to wait for the signs to be up at all locations. Then it will be time to start spreading the word about the new anti-gun locations. What may surprise you is that the majority of our locations are in places that have declared themselves sanctuaries for gun rights so I know this will not sit well with many members of the community to have a business posted.

What you may be thinking is why would I as an employee of this company want to lose customers by spreading the word? Well folks, like many of you I am tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching sh*t like this happen. Now it is hitting close to home for me. As an employee I will abide by company policy. As a customer, I will take my business elsewhere.
