Fenixfire.45 Posted February 13, 2017 at 02:52 AM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 02:52 AM after getting excited about the Mini-14 and having that excitement be crushed by the bull**** laws in Crook county, I found that the Ruger mini 30 isn't on a list and doesn't have "Scary parts" . So can anyone help clarify this for me If I buy a MINI-30 w/5rd mag, will it be Okay for me to have in my house?
kster Posted February 13, 2017 at 04:09 AM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 04:09 AM the mini 14 is banned by name. the mini 30 would just be a recalibered version of the 14.
Fenixfire.45 Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:08 AM Author Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:08 AM so does that mean NO?, the law is not fully clear it says only copies or duplicates and the Mini-30 is it's own rifle it looks like the mini-14 but it's has a different name & different caliber so that's why I'm confused
tkroenlein Posted February 13, 2017 at 06:28 AM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 06:28 AM That means no. I believe the ability to accept super capacity clips disqualifies it as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
InterestedBystander Posted February 13, 2017 at 12:11 PM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 12:11 PM Few here, I believe, are lawyers so you are getting opinions on individual interpretation of the law as we read it as there has not been a specific case afaik. While not named on the list, the gotcha for the Mini-30 could be as mentioned above with regard to the Mini-14 that "Shall include, but not be limited to, the assault weapons models identified as follows:(A)The following rifles or copies or duplicates thereof"
TRJ Posted February 13, 2017 at 02:36 PM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 02:36 PM Best bet for an effective 200 yard or less rifle in cook county is an M1 carbine with no bayonet lug on the barrel band. It's not named and lacks scary features. 10,15, 30 round magazines available. Weighs about 6 pounds and the stock is short so smaller people and women can use/carry it without issue. You can get a railed scout mount to replace the handguard on the stock and then mount a cheap TRS25 red dot to it and you have yourself a very handy little carbine. The .30 caliber rounds are available in ball, hollow points and soft point. At .38 cents a round you can afford to practice a bit. The low recoil is very nice, like shooting a 9mm carbine with the ballistics of a .357 mag.

LOL Now show us your setup Also there is a good chance (read: hope) that M1's will become plentiful in the near future from surplus.
