First time FOID expiration date

Have a friend(first time applicant) who reports that when he looks up his FOID on the ISP website it is active but has an expiration date of COVID 19. I thought that was just for renewals. Seems he would not get the full 10 years if that's the case.

I think everyones date has been changed to Covid. You get the full ten years. If it expires sooner, it is still active while renewal being processed or up to 18 months past end of Covid declaration.

A Firearms Owners Identification (FOID) card holders and Concealed Carry License (CCL) holders, who submit their renewal application will remain valid during the duration of the state's disaster proclamation and for a period of 18 months (previously 12 months) following the termination of the disaster, even if their renewal application is/was not submitted prior to expiration

If you mean that he has not received his first FOID card yet,so he can't buy guns or ammo yet,but shows covid-19 as the exp date,that does seem odd.Would be interesting to know what the exp. date on the card is when he receives it ,if that's the case.
