Littleagnes99 Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:21 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:21 PM (edited) Going to start the process of getting my foid card back. Had a domestic incident that resulted in no conviction and charges reduced. Was going to do the process myself but have been pricing out attorneys. One quoted me at $2,000. Any of you guys ever use an attorney, and if so, how much you pay? Wasnt sure where to post this question on the forums. Sorry in advance if it's in the wrong place. Thanks Edited October 29, 2019 at 03:24 PM by Littleagnes99
Molly B. Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:29 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:29 PM Before hiring an attorney, you may want to consider submitting a request for review along with a certified copy of the court document showing the charges were dismissed. Molly B. Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:31 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:31 PM But if there was a conviction, even domestic misdemeanors remain a federal prohibitor.
Littleagnes99 Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:33 PM Author Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:33 PM (edited) No convictions. Did court supervision for a year and had charges reduced from domestic to reckless conduct after everyone talked to states attorney. Thanks Molly B! Chopperz4lyfe Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:56 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 03:56 PM I am also in this same boat but I did a project save program and everything was dropped. I sent all the proof of being dropped and no charges and it's been like 3 months now....what are my options?

Littleagnes99 Posted October 29, 2019 at 05:27 PM Author Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 05:27 PM Molly B, would the request for review get a foid card back if all the paper work is correct and charges were shown to be dismissed in the final disposition, or do I have to do the whole process of the foid appeal with the 3 letters, etc.
Chopperz4lyfe Posted October 29, 2019 at 05:28 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 05:28 PM @Bubbacs.....I have already submitted all that and now just wait. I'm not sure why I have to wait so long when the case was dismissed?! The local PD has all my guns and not taking care of them etc.....I just want to get back on track and move forward! Chopperz4lyfe Posted October 29, 2019 at 05:48 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 05:48 PM @Molly B, I am pretty sure I submitted the request for view and provided the stamped seal copy of the dismissal of the case. How long does it take to hear back on average? I feel like it should be a 5 minute process to look at, see dismissed and push the button to reinstate and issue a new card.....? Molly B. Posted October 29, 2019 at 06:03 PM Share Posted October 29, 2019 at 06:03 PM If you submitted an appeal, it could take a year or more. If you submitted a request for review, it could shorten that time, don't know by now much.

I think I did the review as I didnt have to provide 3 letters or anything.
