FLMOPE Posted November 23, 2019 at 07:33 PM Share Posted November 23, 2019 at 07:33 PM My CCL expires in DEC. My FOID expires in FEB. Should I just go ahead and do the renewal process for both at the same time or wait on the FOID?

VannDaddy Posted November 24, 2019 at 12:15 AM Share Posted November 24, 2019 at 12:15 AM Is the FOID renewal like the FCCL renewal where as long as you have submitted renewal application the old one is still electronically valid with the state? I realize that one would not be able to purchase any firearms or ammunition with the expired FOID.

ScottFM Posted December 3, 2019 at 04:14 PM Share Posted December 3, 2019 at 04:14 PM My FOID is due renewal in Feb. I did the online renewal the day the "RENEW" button went live. Bubbacs Posted December 3, 2019 at 04:33 PM Share Posted December 3, 2019 at 04:33 PM The long and short of it is in the many duplicate threads on this very subject my friend! The short, we have seen 45 to 50 days for FOID only. The long, we have seen just at or over the 90 day threshold. So somewhere in that gray area that the Republic of Illinois has determined is acceptable will be the timeline! I do believe that this reminds me of and old song today, and just today because it’s a special day: The Answer My Friend Is Blowing In The Wind, The Answer Is Blowing In The Wind............ George72 Posted December 5, 2019 at 05:17 PM Share Posted December 5, 2019 at 05:17 PM Just submitted the renewal application for my CCL. Expires 03/26/2020, Renewed 12/05/2019. My letter from the ISP states "The Department has 90 days to process with valid fingerprints and 120 days for applications submitted without valid fingerprints". I submitted fingerprints on the original application so the 90 day clock starts now. Tic Toc ISP, tic toc. Strange thing happened on my payment confirmation though. My name didn't appear after Applicant:. Only thing that populated was the comma. My CCL status is "Under Review" but shows "Renewal" in the blue banner all the way to the left. Just an observation. stitch58 Posted December 29, 2019 at 10:17 PM Share Posted December 29, 2019 at 10:17 PM 95 days as of today for my FOID Renewal. FOID has now expired. At least it shows the QC Verified using the Inspect feature. It's ridiculous since we are background checked every night. If I was of questionable character that fact should of shown up a long time ago. Thankfully my FCCL is still active.

What I've just read in other posts, is stating that as long as I renewed before my FOID card expired, its still active? Or at least not Expired. Smoke33 Posted December 30, 2019 at 03:02 PM Share Posted December 30, 2019 at 03:02 PM I am glad I opened this thread. Maybe I misunderstood but my CCL instructor told us that our CCL took the place of our FOID card. The license numbers are identical on both cards and that would make sense that the CCL would replace the FOID. Can anyone clarify? You have to keep both your FOID and CCL current. They have different expiration dates so you need to pay close attention. It would make sense that once you have your CCL you wouldn’t need the FOID but this is Illinois and common sense has very little to do with how our laws are created or enforced. Thanks for commenting and the info. The thing that makes the least sense about this is why have the same license number for both? If they are two separate licenses and both needed separately shouldn’t they each have their own individual number? Not really looking for anyone to answer just more talking out loud. bluedog Posted December 31, 2019 at 04:10 PM Share Posted December 31, 2019 at 04:10 PM I have been lurking around here for several weeks soaking up info, lots of helpfull advice from those that are dealing with these long waits.I'm currently on day 180 for CCW renewal, sent it in July 5th, no prints.....still shows under reviewI'm currently on day 81 for FOID renewal, sent it Oct 11th, still shows under review...Foid expires tomorrow.Knew there was going to be a wait so I sent in everything as soon as it was allowed, didn't expect it to be this long. I have called but can't get through, sent e-mail to ISP on both with no response, and have contacted my local rep. Nothing has moved the needle yet..I do have a couple questions that I could not find while searching here, I'm sure they probably have been addressed before. How do they determine the order for processing renewals, its obviously not in the order they are received. I have seen several posts of people submitting after I did with same criteria and have received there renewal? Second, has anyone actually went to the ISP office in person and tried to inquire about there applications. I'm less than an hour away and would be willing to make the trip if there was any chance that would help? Thanks.

I would wager the delay with your CCL is caused by the renewal of your Foid card. Once your Foid renewal is processed, then they will proceed withi your CCL. Please keep us posted on your processing times P.s. since you renewed prior to expiration, both will remain valid until New ones are issued
