The Site (training center)

Any idea how they run their non lethal shoot house? Is it with some kind of paint projectile or is it projected scenarios on the walls? Or just practicing movement with a bluegun?

If I had to take a guess, and it's a "non-lethal" shoot house, I'm guessing they use what every other training outfit uses: simunitions

Ah, DD that is no fun.

I've taken two classes there. FAST Pistol and Applied Concealed Carry. The instructor for both is Bob Welch and he's outstanding. I can't speak about the shoot house but it is listed as live fire. As for the non-lethal house, I don't know. You can email Jim Kauber. He's good at returning emails. It might take a day but he always responds.

I can't say enough about the facility and the staff at the range and Black Bear North. The food is fantastic and the lodge is comfortable and spotless.

Jim Kauber not only is the President, he also teaches a 3 day Precision Rifle class. I've talked to people taking the class and they've all had glowing praise for Jim's teaching style and expertise.

I'm getting ready to sign up for another class this year. REV Pistol.

I highly recommend The Site. It's not cheap but worth the expense. Besides, it's a great weekend of learning, lots of shooting, making new friends and spending time with die hard gun guys.

The cost is actually on par with other 2-day training classes. I emailed them through the "contact us" page to ask if they allowed AIWB carry for pistol classes. If they do, I'll probably do the FAST pistol course. It's only a couple hours from me. I went to Iowa for my last pistol class so this local option would be nice.

Just an update. It's been over a week with no response to my email. Looks like I'm going to purchase training elsewhere. I'm currently leaning towards Valor Ridge in Tennessee. I may revisit this place if I ever hear back but I am not able to purchase training very often and the lack of a timely response to an email has always been a red flag. Thanks for everyone's responses.

Jim Kauber is probably at a Precision Rifle event and he resides in the State of Washington. He is at "The Site" Spring through late fall. Classes I have taken at "The Site" were safe and well run. Improved my firearms skills each time. You may wait awhile for a response but probably worth the wait. The lodging and food service is very good..

Thanks for the info, I'll see what happens. Plenty of time to decide where to go for training. Right now my focus is on staying warm.

I would recommend Spartan Tactical training locally John Kruppa is the owner it is on par with the best training that can be had in the country.

I looked into them but they were hesitant about allowing AIWB carry during classes. I'm not comfortable training with people who aren't comfortable with people carrying AIWB. That's how I carry, and it's the only way I will train. I've found places that have zero problem with it but it has always required me to travel out of state. I'll probably continue to train out of state and maybe move out of state eventually given how things are going here. Illinois really is getting bad. I'm only here because I was born here and would prefer to be close to family.

they are fine with it for the conceal carry tactics class which I have taken and recommend as long as the holster is correct.
