Walther PPS M2 Recall

I got an email the other day about a recall for my Walther PPS M2 with the effected serial numbers, which mine is part of, and was wondering if anybody else got this email, and how long it takes to get the shipping label? I did the online form and got the email to include when sending it back through FedEx, but did not get the shipping label.

If you have a PPS M2, the serial numbers in the recall are:

AN3020 - AN9999
AO0000 - AO9999
AP0000 - AP9999
AQ0000 - AQ9999
AR0000 - AR9999
AS0000 - AS9999
AT0000 - AT9999
AU0000 - AU7502

PPS M2 RECALL

(M2 MODELS ONLY/VERIFY YOUR SERIAL NUMBER IS AFFECTED BELOW BEFORE CONTINUING)

*The Walther PPS M1 models are NOT affected by the recall. If you have a PPS M1 you do NOT need to send it in for the upgrade.

Important Safety Recall – November 2018 Walther PPS M2 Pistols

Walther Arms, Inc. has recently discovered a potential safety issue with certain PPS M2 pistols. Walther is voluntarily initiating a recall to protect the safety of its customers because under certain conditions it is possible that some of these pistols may fire when dropped.

Please do not load or fire your Walther PPS M2 pistol and contact us immediately to arrange to have your pistol upgraded free of charge.

If your pistol has already been upgraded, there will be a dot milled onto the back side of the magazine well opening.

The upgrade will be performed at no charge to you. For free shipping, please enter your information here, and complete the online form. NOT ALL PPS M2 MODELS ARE AFFECTED. Be sure to VERIFY that your serial number is affected by the recall before shipping your gun back for the recall. After completion of the form a confirmation email will be sent including shipping information.

The current time to repair your PPS M2 is approximately 6 to 8 weeks from the date we receive your PPS M2.

After you fill out the info on there website it should open another window/tab. On that new window/tab there is a FedEX box at the bottom, you click it and another window/tab will open with the label. You may get an error box at the top, just make sure you look for another window /tab with the label. Popup blockers may cause an issue, just watch for windows/tabs to open in your browser. Also when you print the label, go to your options and look for the scaling/scale option to decrease the size of the label. The label at first will be the size of a sheet of paper. You will have to bring it to a Fedex location, be careful , certain Fedex/Kinkos locations may not take the box and or it will be sent back. This happened to one of my friends with the Sig upgrade. I am not getting a pop up with a label. Just "Error Drop off type is not allowed". No other tabs or windows pop up.

Just saw this on American Rifleman.

Walther Arms has issued a voluntary recall for certain model numbers of its PPS M2 pistol. An official press release reads as follows:

"Walther Arms has identified a potential condition with the trigger blade safety on the on the Walther PPS M2 pistols that could potentially cause it fail. The safety of our customers is our paramount concern so we have voluntarily initiated this recall because of the possibility of the pistol firing without the trigger blade safety being activated.

Please do not load or fire your Walther PPS M2 pistol and contact us immediately to arrange to have your pistol upgraded free of charge.

I didn't get a label either, either an email or printed version so I just forwarded the email with the recall form information to PPSM2Recall@WaltherArms.com.

I applaud Walther for jumping on this issue immediately with a voluntary recall. This should be the standard, not the norm, for gun safety issues.

I am just curious, how many of the recalled pistols were made during the crazy summer rebate in the summer of 2017? They must have sold literally tons of pistols during their $100 rebate days.

I had to call and speak to a rep to get my shipping label. He had me email him the form I was emailed, then he emailed me the shipping label.

Thanks. I have emailed them twice with no replies.. Guess I will give them a call tomorrow.

Did you get a reply to your emails? I finally got a reply from Walther - I have pasted it below. Apparently I missed the purple button step

The shipping label wasn’t supposed to come via email. Once you confirmed your information and hit submit, there was a new page that came up and had a purple button that you need to click to actually get the shipping label. If you missed that step, you can re-submit your information to get back to that page. Please print the label in landscape mode and make sure all pop-up blockers are disabled. Instructions for doing so can be found here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tech-tips/disable-popup-blocker/pcmcat748301880694.c?id=pcmcat748301880694

What if you don't own a printer ? How are you going to get the label ?

I don't have one of these pistols so I am just wondering for those who do have one and no printer.

I guess you can take a picture of the email on your phone with your poloroid camera and then have your horse pull your buggy to Walgreens and have them print out your roll of film.

I like Mr Fife's response... but you could call them and ask them to mail it to you or ask a friend to bring a printer over. Said friend will probably have a solution. Take the printable email thingy to a shipping shop (FedEx, UPS) and have them print it from your smart phone or a digital storage device. The gall of any company to think we all have modern office capabilities at home : )

You just wait till I talk to Aunt Bea. She'll be putting Knotts on your head faster than you can rub them.

Thanks for the answers , even from you Mr Fife. :P

Use a computer at the local library that does have a printer? Or 'save as' and put on a jump drive and take it to a shipping place or a friend, I'm sure most will be happy to print it out for you...

Or just follow the recall website's choices for 'non-computer' options...

You may also contact us by phone at 1-866-503-3389, by email at ppsm2recall@WaltherArms.com or by mail at Walther Arms, Inc., 7700 Chad Colley Boulevard, Fort Smith, AR 72916.

Our library has a remote printing option, I can upload files to the library's website from home and then I walk in and drop $.10 per page into the printer's coin slot and I'm on my way with prints in hand.

Honestly, with how cheap printers are and how dependent our society is on computers, I find it amazing that many still don't have them. I know ink and toner can be costly, but my solution to that is to buy a printer that is a few years old with 101 generic ink/toner offerings online for pennies on the dollar vs the newer models ink and toner...

I just bought some black ink off Ebay...20 cartridges for 17.50 free ship. They are not OEM , but does the job great for simple printing.

Just pu the Walther from Fed Ex. So you guys are aware, at no time did Walther email me with status or tracking number. Fed Ex sent me a text Friday morning let me know a delivery was coming. I didn't take a pic before and really not sure what they fixed. Im sure over the next week peeps on YouTube will have that info. Also,no discount card for future purchase like Sig did. Enjoy..

I have an older HP color laser and an older Brother B/W laser scanner/printer/copier both are legacy machines that I picked up for pennies on the dollar 2nd hand, generic toners are dirt cheap for both and no worries about clogged or dried up ink if they sit. Before that I had an older inkjet scanner/printer/copier and like you I was able to pick up generic inks online for about a dollar a cartridge.
