Chicago registration time and cost reports

So then I look at the letter to see how much time I have to return it and it has no due date nor number of days. I check the ordinance...only states that a late form is subject to a $60 fine. Then I check the rules and regulations, no information as to what is "late".

It's the annual registration report sent to us to return with any changes, like if we lost or sold a registered firearm (note, we have to report such within 72 hours of losing or selling so if you wait until the annual report to notify them you'll be violating an ordinance).

We must pass CCW for the entire state, then work on pre-emption to remove all of those ridiculous rules and ordinances that you folks live under.
Worse yet, all those rules and ordinances do nothing to reduce crime.

The Roman Empire fell due to a large, corrupt government, overspending, an overextended military, insecure borders, and the illegal immigration of Goths, barbarians (anyone who was not educated), and religious fanatics. Sound familiar?

I just assumed that this is the way to do it, I didn't get any ARRFF form yet. Should I have gotten it by now?
Do I need to pay to renew my registrations, or was that a one time thing? I hope they aren't trying to screw me around by not sending me some kind of renewal. Maybe we need some kind of watchdog service to make sure they don't try to weasel out of sending renewals.
Any ideas before I send out my newly printed renewals? I worried about the closeness of the expiration date, I may need to move my guns out of state until my registrations are in my hands.
The only thing I get in the mail is from the AARP, trying to get me to join

My renewal just came. It was all preprinted. Just signed "no changes" and returned -- had to use my own envelope though!

Mine is a couple of weeks away. If it doesn't arrive today I guess I'll be calling them.

On a side-note: I moved a short distance west to get a non-Chicago address because I was tired of not owning handguns (well, that was one of the larger of several issues). After McDonald, I was a little regretful since it was (i THOUGHT) no longer an issue. You folks' stories take away every last drop of my regret. :/

By the way, it just so happens to be the certificate for the pistol I first tried to register in 2007 and was at issue in McDonald.

Not sure when I registered it the second time, I think it was July or early August. All four of us (McDonald plaintiffs) went down together and filed shortly after getting our CFPs.

My last name is mcdonald as well
I was working on a denial for the same purpose.
The thought that my app sat in the same inbox as another mcdonald makes me smile

By the way, the officer that handled this recent registration took the time to advise me that my FOID expired (11/01/11) and enclosed an application. I didn't need it as I've been renewed, though my card has not arrived despite being promised it would arrive this week.
This continues a multi-year streak of great service from the folks manning the gun desk.

And when did they say they processed that FOID?? Perhaps you need to contact our "ace in the hole" for FOID cards and let him make a contact on your behalf!!

They cashed my check in September and said it was processed a couple weeks ago and should have been mailed out this week.

3 more weeks now since they have to re-print my FOID.
This means not only can I not go to a range or gun store, but I can't register a firearm because they require a copy of my FOID.
This creates an interesting legal quandry...

No reason for it to take three weeks to reprint a card. Do as you will, but I have two words for you......."Call Todd".
Your check was cashed in September. Now it's November, nearly mid November. And you're told to wait another three weeks!!?? Call Todd, I'll PM the number if you don't have it.
This is totally unacceptable. And here I thought they were really trying to do better!!

When my FOID was late I called up and talked to a sweet lady who moved my application to the top of the pile while I had her on the phone. Got my FOID card a few days later.

Yes. I'm predicting that Chicago/Cook county will be sold out in order to get "shall issue".

Now at least I can set foot in a gun store/range as mine was expired as of Nov 1.
ETA: That makes 58 days or so from check cashing.
