Much better JR!! LOL!!

Hahaha! See, I can be a classy guy... kinda... sometimes...

Two of those pictures really show the nice grain and figure (there is a little figure, but it only shows in the right light). After my Flamed Maple top Gibson Les Paul, that Garand has the most beautiful finish I have ever seen.

Added a 91/30 to my VERY small collection. Had a really rough stock, but strong rifling.

I am still working on the stock, some of that shellack is like burned into the wood and I don't want to sand too much. I used a chemical stripper. 1943, this could have been blasting Germans on the Eastern front.

Anyway, enjoy (I am still working on both stocks with Tom's 1/3 mix I may use BLO on both, or BLO on the M1 and Stain on the Mosin, let me know what you think of the "lighter" color).

Just chambered the 6.8 upper yesterday, it's actually not finished but I wanted to get it together and test fire it with the 1 in 11 twist/ four-groove barrel. I went with the slick side receiver so I can put a side charging handle on it at some point. I'll probably also do a multi-shade gray camo pattern on it but haven't decided yet....still looking at fall foliage pics to decide on the colors. I left the barrel at 17" for no apparent reason, but it might get a brake anyway depending on how my son handles the extra bit of recoil. He'll be hunting Missouri deer with it this fall.

The complete rifle is .223 Wylde chambered 18" with 1 in 8 twist. It probably seems odd that the longer range upper gets the iron sights, but I like simplicity in "combat" type rifles. The 6.8 will get a scope for deer and probably a holo sight for hogs. Or maybe I'll go back to a low upper on it and use the high rise for a .204 or .264 LBC build, that seems most likely but I used it for this as I have had it in a drawer for 3 years now....

Is that a metro arms 1911? A reliability report is welcomed, I was thinking of getting one to bobtail the frame.

Just got back from the range and I love this gun. It makes the Glock 22 feel like a primitive explosive device. I was only able to put 50 through the tube, a few of those were shot by my 11 year old son and 12 year old daughter but its damned accurate, no failures and the best trigger I have ever felt on a gun. Theres about 2mm of take up, you have to concentrate on feeling it for it to be noticable, before a perfect sharp break. When I brought it home from the dealer I was worried I would have to send it in for warranty, working the action was like rubbing two sandpaper blocks together but after a thorough cleaning and working the action about 500 times by hand with some good lube on it, it truly is smooth as glass. I waited 26 years to get a 1911 of my own and I absolutely love this one. I could only love it better if it was the hard chrome model, which sell out as soon as they are in stock. Once I get the last $200 paid off on the Glock, I will be purchasing a 92FS INOX or a Metro Arms Commander in hard chrome. heck, I will DEFINITELY purchase another Metro .45 regardless!!

My FFL was handled by Illinois Secure Firearms transfer, they got me in on Saturday to pick it up after the excruciating 72 hour wait, I wouldnt have lasted until Monday!
