M1AFan Posted November 9, 2019 at 08:26 PM Share Posted November 9, 2019 at 08:26 PM Good afternoon all, Born and raised here in Illinois, had my FOID until a year and a half ago when I moved to Texas. My career has brought me back to Illinois and I'll need to get my FOID again. My old FOID is still active (I no longer have the physical card), and due for renewal but since I lived out of State for the last year and a half, I'm wondering if I can just renew my old one, or do I have to apply for a new FOID all together? I got my IL Drivers License back which carries the same DL# as my previous one. Calls to the ISP FOID line go unanswered and I've had the same luck with email so I thought someone here might have an idea. Signed,Moving to WI end of next year. Lou Posted November 9, 2019 at 09:27 PM Share Posted November 9, 2019 at 09:27 PM https://www.ispfsb.com/Public/FOID.aspx Go to the ISP page and verify that your FOID card is indeed still valid. You can also renew and/or reapply there. Good luck and welcome to Illinois Carry.
RandyP Posted November 9, 2019 at 09:27 PM Share Posted November 9, 2019 at 09:27 PM I 'think' that the address on your FOID and Driver's License have to match? With just a little luck it should all get sorted out before you move again -lol
101abn Posted November 9, 2019 at 09:32 PM Share Posted November 9, 2019 at 09:32 PM I’m guessing you logged onto the ISP site since you said your foid is active. If so, do you see a renewal tab, I think its probably best to sign up for a new card. We know how messed up things can get with IL foids and ccl’s. Or if you got a couple hours of free time just keep hitting redial till you get thru to isp
Molly B. Posted November 10, 2019 at 12:37 AM Share Posted November 10, 2019 at 12:37 AM If there is a renewal button, you can renew and if you have a change of address, make the changes to your address history, not as a request for address change. GTX63 Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:34 AM Share Posted November 10, 2019 at 10:34 AM I thought that once you received you driver's license from another state that your FOID became null and void, and Lincoln's merry men sent you a letter notifying you of that. RandyP Posted November 10, 2019 at 01:24 PM Share Posted November 10, 2019 at 01:24 PM Oh, and deepest sympathies for needing to again live in this sorry State. Hope you get to be a Cheese-Head soon. lol
Bubbacs Posted November 10, 2019 at 04:48 PM Share Posted November 10, 2019 at 04:48 PM Not to be the devil, but I’d apply fully over again.Get a new card and not have the possibility of anything popping up later.Understand that it is Illinois, and within that structure if it can go wrong it will go wrong.Having your FOID yanked after THEY make a mistake won’t be an excuse THEY will accept! Enjoy the second pass through of Illinois and be sure to start the search for a new place to leave too soon..........
M1AFan Posted November 11, 2019 at 12:03 AM Author Share Posted November 11, 2019 at 12:03 AM Thanks for the advice everyone. It's much appreciated! What a mess of a system this State has, and sadly, I don't think it'll ever change. Moving to Texas was great and I would've never come back here if the possibility of heading across the border to WI wasn't possible. Again, thanks everyone! I'll have to decide what to do. Either try and renew or just file for a new Card.

M1AFan Posted November 17, 2019 at 08:22 PM Author Share Posted November 17, 2019 at 08:22 PM So sorry to see you go. Was a sad day crossing back into Illinois. Gave the "Welcome to Illinois" sign the big middle finger when we crossed over the Mississippi. Texas was a great place to live and wish I could've stayed. Career has to come first though..
