BellaBooBoo13 Posted February 7, 2018 at 08:28 PM Share Posted February 7, 2018 at 08:28 PM Hoping I can get some good feedback from everyone on this topic! I just recently purchased my first gun and will be taking my CCL in a week what does everyone do for insurance? Do you have it? Do you not have it? I know it is always a good thing to have it but would like everyones opinion.

lawman Posted February 7, 2018 at 10:19 PM Share Posted February 7, 2018 at 10:19 PM And if you are anywhere near a Cabella's, this weekend is an NRA weekend. Join the NRA or renew an existing membership and receive a $25.00 Cabella's gift card. When I renewed in September, they also had a $5.00 discount, so it wound up costing me $10.00 ($35.00 - $25.00 card = $10.00). The card was used right away on ammo. I just happened to be in Madison that weekend, so no Crook County tax on ammo.

There are so many options out there and I know I will need it I was just wondering if someone local in Crook County had a good experience with one. I have read so many articles on line about all the different insurance and options but I really wanted someones opinion that is local things are so different here than the rest of the world and Police are usually so quick to throw on handcuffs and ask questions later. I live in Cook and I went with USCCA...mainly because I looked at the lawyers they're aligned with in my area and I found a prominent pro-gun lawyer near my home. USCCA may or may not be for you. I'm not pushing it. There are pluses and minuses to each choice. Whatever you decide to do, you should build a relationship with a lawyer. If you are forced to use your weapon, you do not want to be defended by a public defender you don't know and have no relationship with. Is the public defender up on all the laws that apply? Are they anti-gun? You have no idea. Don't be surprised if the lawyer asks you to pay something up-front for that relationship. For a fee, he or she is on-call 24/7 to answer any questions you may have about the law or for your defense. Obviously, hourly fees apply after that. Thanks for the info and NO I do not want any public defender to do anything for me.... USCCA was one of the ones at the top of my list to consider. I don't want to ever have to be put in a situation where I need to use it but I am a single woman living in the city and my building is not what I would call secure. I only moved a bit closer to the city to be near my parents and more than ever I don't feel safe. I appreciate the info thank you so much

Except, apparently, if you need to defend yourself in a gun free zone, unfortunately. Overall, they are generally the best, except for that specific situation, so I am likely going to also get a USCCA plan to make sure I am covered in such situations, at least to some extent. InterestedBystander Posted February 9, 2018 at 01:35 AM Share Posted February 9, 2018 at 01:35 AM It going to come down to your decision based on a number of factors important to you. Lots of prior discussions although some may be making changes as competition tweaks their offerings. I live in the suburbs in a nice, safe neighborhood...but crime does happen everywhere. It tends to happen where and when you least expect it. That's why I carry EVERY DAY. Whichever company you decide on, I think it's smart to have some kind of coverage to provide for your defense in case the worst happens....unless, of course, you have $100k lying around. If that's the case, you don't need it. On the other hand, if you do have that kind of cash, are you willing to put it at risk when insurance is so affordable? Best of luck!
