Often times on this board we berrate Senator Cullerton, bu when he does something good it needs to be recognised as well.

This week we were going to have a hearing on the senate mailmorder ammo sales bill. The Chairman of the criminal committee decided to send it to sub-committee for an uncertain fate on the deadline week to pass bills out of committee.

He then proceeded to tell us how he was sending all gun bills there, yet just last week, he allowed for the hearing on the kotowski gangs/guns bill that never went to sub-committee.

So after an animated phone call with the chief of staff, he called bck in 10 minutes and said he had a shell bill for us, that they would be filing an amendment to put the ammo language on it and would transfer it to our sponsor.

And we would get a different committee to avoid Senator Noland.

The new bill is SB681.

We may not agree with senator culleton on a lot, but when he makes a good move for us to be fair, we should recognise it and acknowedge it.
While a 9 mm or .40 caliber bullet may or may not expand, it is an undeniable fact that a .45 caliber bullet will never shrink.

Thank you for the balanced approach, Senator Cullerton.

I sent him a short email

I just became aware of your action today in amending and transferring the mail order ammo sales bill to SB 681. As a law abiding gun owner I thank you for your actions today regarding the bill.

It is now a 'shell' bill and will have new language inserted as Senator Cullerton's Cheif of Staff informed Todd. Check back in a day or two and the language will be completely changed.

Seriously, the legalization of dueling would end political pandering and solve political corruption in the State

Read Todd's post again.

Then read the Senate Amendment 001 to the bill you've linked above.  Senator Cullerton just did us a favor.  The original bill, SB3581 was sent to legislative Hell known as a subcommittee to die.  After some judicious negotiation by our illustrious lobbyist, Senator Cullerton made some procedural changes that kept the content of the bill alive.   At the same time, Senator Cullerton has promised that the new bill will go to a friendlier committee.

A few short emails, similar to that of Ishmo's would be in order.  Short and sweet.

The Roman Empire fell due to a large, corrupt government, overspending, an overextended military, insecure borders, and the illegal immigration of Goths, barbarians (anyone who was not educated), and religious fanatics. Sound familiar?

Click on "full text" at that first page.  Then on the second page, click on "Senate Amendment 001".  It's done.  The only thing we don't know is which committee "Assignments" will send it to.
