FL Concealed Carry Renewal Due Thinking Of Not Renewing

Like the topic title says it is a hassle to do this. I had a helluva time 5 years ago getting this license. I don't travel into FL anymore it seems and with Utah and IL I don't see much additional with FL. I just don't like the idea of going through the entire process again with ink finger prints at a police station stamped and certified , color photo, on and on. With Utah I went online to renew and within 10 days the new license was in my mailbox. When I first received my original FL permit IL didn't have one. I hate to give up a license but it seems like they make it hard. If you are a FL resident most of this is not required for renewal. I can understand originally doing this but seems to much now with a renewal. What is the groups thinking on this comments please

Even if FL and UT both cover the states you need, there is still a reason to get both. Another state's recognition of your right to carry under these licenses is something that can change, and in some states, it can change at the whim of one state official. Give up FL, find that your favorite state has a new AG who has decided not to recognize UT licenses, and you may be SOL. Of course, if that were to happen, you can still reapply for a FL license, but that's a pain as well. For me, now, the balance tilts in favor of keeping both. But it's close.

I was in a similar situation. Years ago before IL had licenses, I had AZ non-resident and FL non-resident. Now when I compare AZ and FL, Arizona is now worthless for me as Florida covers the same states as Arizona, and I do travel to Florida sometimes. For me, the best combination is IL resident license + FL non-resident license. So I'm just going to let my AZ non-res permit expire since I have no use for it anymore.

I also compared IL resident with Utah non-res, and IL resident with Florida non-res, and the latter option gives you more states with Maine, New Hampshire, and New Mexico, that you don't get with a Utah non-res permit. However, Utah non-res does get you Washington state which Florida does not, if that matters. All depends on what states you plan on traveling to.

But don't take my word for it, definitely check for yourself. Use this to try varying selections and compare: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/travel

I would do one selection, take a screenshot, then do a different selection, and just put them side by side or Alt+tab back and forth to compare.

Do you have to resubmit fingerprints for a renewal? It mentions only new picture, and renewal form, notarized.

You have to do the prints.

Well sonofabiscuit. That's an extra $50 or so at the only department I could find that would do them in a timely fashion. Maybe I can borrow a relative who's a cop to do it.

Most police stations will do it for $10. Naperville will do it.

Pd’s around here have all switched to computer prints. Last time I renewed I got lucky and knew the chief and he dug around in some old cabinets and found the ink pad etc and did mine for me. He has since retired. Think if I renew mine next time that would be a good time to just go to Florida!

I had to specifically ask my local SO to do print cards. Wanted to do livescan (same price). The jailer who did my prints for FL said they do unlimited cards for $10. Got my bank to notarize my app free of charge.
