Both Macon and Macoupin have ballot initiatives in November, as far as we know; also there's a rumor that Pike actually passed a resolution last month and it wasn't publicized. We're looking into that one.

Map update again. Let me know if there are an errors or additions needed. Thanks.

Thanks Kevin, but just to be clear, Pike is not confirmed yet.

Macon is not on a ballot initiative. The resolution will be placed on the November Agenda for voting by the full board. We will advise when completed.

Who on the forum lives in Gallatin County?

Could you please investigate the board's position?

Thanks for the info. GRW is now updated to reflect the situation.

Could someone explain the Aug 2018 Boone County minutes regarding the resolution for me?

http://www.boonecoun...ard Meeting.pdf

Starts on page 3 as they created a non searchable/copy/pasteable pdf document. What failed on the 2-2 tie vs the passed 9-3 vote?

The way I read it is that it was agreed to place it on the ballot. I'm not sure what the 2-2 was all about, but at the end of that sentence you can see it says, "motion carried."

I believe the 2-2 was committee vote. Was not approved by committee, but was brought to the floor and approved. Looks to be going on ballot.

And not sure what the "unconstitutional" nonsense is about.

The people do have the right to nullification of unconstitutional state and federal laws.

Remove Macon for time being.

Good map.  Think Hancock County doesn't have the "D" though.

How does one go about trying to get their county to become a sanctuary county?

Start by contacting your County Board rep. Then it's a matter of having them propose the resolution and try to find co-sponsors. When we tried to have Lake County file a resolution supporting the "individual rights" interpretation of the 2A in the months before the Heller decision, the Board wimped out demurred, claiming it was "outside their purview" - even though over 90 passed identical resolutions.

The rep from Waukegan literally put his feet on his desk and catcalled us during the public comment section. He later was a 1-term mayor who ran on his late father's legacy and name.

BTW, courtesy of the Effingham Daily News

You will not 'rise to the occasion', you will default to your level of training - plan accordingly.

Despite their rallying around us at election time, honoring only 8 hours of Illinois' 40+ hour law enforcement class towards a 16 hour requirement shows the contempt that our elected officials hold us in.

There's a much newer version of the map here; also, KevinMcC above keeps an equally good current map.

Yes, it is Hancock with no "D".

Heres another news report

full story at link

https://www.mdjonlin...db3fabe673.html

...The Hancock County board passed a resolution in support of residents’ rights to own firearms.

However, a controversial clause in the resolution was removed by an amendment. That paragraph would have designated the county as a “sanctuary” county and prevented local law officers from enforcing any legislation that limited constitutional use and ownership of firearms.

The resolution as approved states that it is the right of people to keep and bear arms, and that Illinois counties derive economic benefit from safe forms of firearm use in recreation and hunting. It further noted that numerous bills continue to be introduced into the Illinois Legislature that infringe on the right to bear arms.

It states that the Hancock County Board opposes enactment of laws that would infringe on these rights, and the board demands that further actions restricting this right cease. It asks the governor of the state to veto all such legislation if it is enacted....

Nah, thats the other 2 threads! ;-)

Would sure like to see Edwards, Richland and Wabash change color filling in that SE downstate white spot.

Ok, got some info on the Will County resolution. I had the opportunity to speak with a couple of board members tonight. The gun sanctuary resolution was assigned to the legislative committee and it died in that committee.

I won't go into details but we need to resubmit the resolution after the upcoming elections as the committees should change.

The problem lies with the "North of I-80" board members. Hopefully this changes after the upcoming elections.

Be advised that Hardin county is green on the map - but there's a "yes / no" vote concerning the resolution on the mid-term ballot.

That said, I'm extremely confident it will pass - just leave it green.

Probably just a ballot initiative.
