Bob Fioretti announces bid for mayor's office

At this point I just want to see Rahm lose. But for the most part I like Fioretti. He's gone against Rahm in city hall on a lot of issues and been gerrymandered and punished for it. For a nearly hopeless place like Chicago, he's about as good as it gets.

I'm not sure what his 2A stance is, maybe not friendly. But he seems like the kind of guy who wants to present himself as different from the usual old Chicago stuff (Daley, Rahm, etc.)

I plan on e-mailing him next week to ask him what his stance is and present him a very POLITE and thorough explanation for why I think he should support private gun ownership and concealed carry by lawful citizens. Would anyone else here from Chicago and even non-city Cook County be willing to do the same? He is also on Facebook.

I live in Chicago's 'new' ward 2. Even though the city has recognized the new ward boundaries since 2012, Fioretti refuses to recognize the new boundaries - probably because it doesn't fit his needs/wants.

In terms of liberal or conservative, on a scale of 1 (liberal) to 10 (conservative) Fioretti would probably be a -2 and way left of Emanuel. As one of his constituents, I tried to contact him several times... no real response. I have been to meetings where he shows up 30 to 45 minutes late and keeps over 100 people waiting with no real apology.

His new way of raising new funds is to levy a tax on the financial section of LaSalle Street - a move that could drive the more jobs out of Chicago. Liberal politicians always want to raise more funds rather than cut spending.

If the race were between Emanuel, Fioretti and Lewis, I would hold my nose and vote for Emanuel. Not a good choice, but then there are no conservatives on the ballot.

I am just glad he isn't running for alderman in Ward 2 - we have six announced candidates, all of which are probably better than Fioretti. If any of you live in the 'new' Ward 2, check out my website at http://Ward2Chicago.com - no I'm not running, I'm just trying to pass along information.

There is apparently no love lost between Emanuel and Fioretti - just look at the newspaper coverage over the last year. There is also no love lost between Fioretti and most of the other alderman- that is why the did the redistrict - he doesn't even live in the new district.

My guess is that both Fioretti and Lewis will run, they will each try and get as much support as they can and then at some point one will drop out and support the other hoping to defeat Emanuel. The politics of Fioretti and Lewis are pretty much the same - left!
