I'm moving to Brookfield in a week. I'm stuck with the lease ay my apartment, but I'm going to sublease it. Question: Will the post office forward my renewed CCW permit to my new address? Sometimes certain companies or govt agencies will put "do not forward" on pieces of mail. I'm just wondering if I should wait to forward my mail.

wait, and then once you get it, relish in the fact that you have to spend $80 ($75 for CCL and $5 for FOID) to change you address - every time you move, and wait another 4 months to see them again.  The good thing is that your license remains valid and you can carry on the one you have while you wait for the new address one to arrive.  So try not to move often, it is really expensive.

Not only that, if you have your mail on hold at the post office because you are on vacation, the USPS returns your CCL/ FOID to the ISP, where it sits.

The post office does not return mail on hold, it holds onto it locally until the end of the hold which is a max 30 days unless special instructions are given. Also I have seen some "state police" FSB mail come through and I want to say it says "Postmaster Please Forward". I'll have to keep an eye out.

Very recently I received my FOID during a mail (vacation) hold and it was in the pile of mail I received when I returned.

Well, they screwed up and sent mine back.

I’ve read many posts here over the years about the FOID and CCL not being forwarded
But I guess some say they get it forwarded

I’d say not able to be forwarded
YMMV
Depends on your mail peeps, and we know how well of an oiled machine that place is.."..

I'm gonna wait it out. I already have to pay again to update my address, I really don't want the hassle of it probably being returned and having to deal with whatever Illinois bureaucratic headache results from it.
