JMontgomery Posted October 15, 2014 at 03:07 PM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 03:07 PM Really now? Do you *really* think some petition is going to spur Madigan into action and Quinn into signing the change? I'm laughing here. You're either really gullible... or terribly naive. I've got some XM193 I'll sell you for $10 a round if you're looking for some...

borgranta Posted October 15, 2014 at 03:22 PM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 03:22 PM If enough people sign it the pressure may be enough for Madigan and/or Cullerton to allow such legislation out of fear for their jobs.

BrowningHP Posted October 15, 2014 at 03:29 PM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 03:29 PM Instead of 'carrying in', consider phrasing it as 'carrying through'. to paint the picture that we are normal people going about our lives, not people coming to hang around at parks or trains with evil black killing devices which might jump out and shoot babies, because I promise the latter is what "they" think about

Really? Madigan and/or Cullerton in fear of their jobs? They fear choking on an olive pit more than they fear losing their jobs! Rather than sign some STUPID OLD petition get out and vote out every ashat that is not pro 2A! Get out and vote out! That is the only way we can effect change in the FCCL laws and in every other aspect of this State's FAILED political culture. miztic Posted October 15, 2014 at 08:57 PM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 08:57 PM Worse, I've had my change.org email used to sign other petitions, specifically Lee Goodman ones. I've had to call them twice to remove my signature, which they were very nice about and took care of right away.
automatic Posted October 15, 2014 at 11:29 PM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 11:29 PM In addition to 2nd Amendment issues, I take motorcycle rights passionately as well. (That's where I first met Todd). He can tell you these type of online petitions are pretty much useless."Slacktivism- The word describes "feel-good" measures, in support of an issue or social cause, that have little or no practical effect other than to make the person doing it take satisfaction from the feeling they have contributed. The acts tend to require minimal personal effort from the slacktivist."- Wikipedia One (1) hand written note to your legislator, is worth a thousand signatures on one of these. It really is one of the best ways to get their attention. OR... If you've never called your representatives, give it a try. Let their admins know your a law abiding constituent of theirs & you're an ardent 2nd Amendment supporter... you hope that they'll support the expansion of legally licensed individuals to carry on public transit (especially in light of recent occurrences that reinforce how dangerous these places can be). It'll probably take you as long as it would to fill out the online petition. Respectfully,

vito Posted October 25, 2014 at 09:45 PM Share Posted October 25, 2014 at 09:45 PM No, I don't think this petition, or any other, will sway Madigan, Cullerton or other strongly anti-gun legislators. But there might be some who are on the fence on gun issues who whom a petition with a large number of names on it might just get them to feel the best action is to side with the pro-gun folks.
