Full story at link https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/04/12/iowa-lawmakers-passed-the-states-most-expansive-gun-rights-bill-ever/ Iowa lawmakers pass the states most expansive gun rights bill ever ...The legislation would, among other things, allow citizens to use deadly force if they believe their lives are threatened and to sue local government officials if they think gun-free zones have violated their Second Amendment rights.... ...Other provisions include allowing children under 14 to use pistols or revolvers as long as they are supervised by an adult age 21 and older, legalizing concealed-carry at state capitol buildings and grounds, prohibiting the government from confiscating firearms during state emergencies, legalizing short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and making records of permit holders confidential. C0untZer0 Posted April 15, 2017 at 02:02 AM Share Posted April 15, 2017 at 02:02 AM States like Illinois and California are turning into reservoirs of dependent malingerers who feel entitled to be completely taken care of for life, as payment for their vote. Ambitious and industrious people who value freedom, liberty and wish to put the fruits of their labor to good use will reject the constant theft of their wages by states like Illinois and they'll simply leave and move to places like Iowa. The next battle will be with the leftists at the federal level as the bankrupt states seek to expropriate the wealth of all Americans to keep the money flowing to their dead-beat constituents. GTX63 Posted April 15, 2017 at 10:18 AM Share Posted April 15, 2017 at 10:18 AM About as long as Chicago has been seen as the de facto Capitol. Cook county contains half the Illinois voters, and if that isn't enough, Democrats still felt the need to redistrict in order to lock up strong holds. Any Republican ie Judy Barr Topinka (RIP) and the occasional Governor are tokens. While Illinois might not be mentioned in the media as much as other liberal states, it is one of THE liberal strongholds along with New York and California.Maybe moreso; in a very short time no speaker will have served, sorry that term is an insult to the office, no speaker held office longer than Mike Madigan in modern history. The fact we have any gun rights at all is only due to the pain staking efforts of organizations like IC and a few judges and Todd and a handful of Democrat lite downstate reps. Look at like this- Illinois Democrats have Boardwalk, Park place, and most of the real estate on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sides of the board, plus a stack of get out of jail free cards. Republicans have Mediterranean and Baltic avenue and on a hot roll will get Free Parking. The only reason there is still more than one player, even though the game is called "Monopoly" is because someone has to pay.

Is there anything in Illinois prohibiting a child under 14 from using a pistol or revolver under adult supervision? I wasn't aware ofWashington Post article from two days ago. So it is unlawful in Iowa for a child under 14 to use a handgun now, when supervised by an adult? It isn't unlawful in Illinois assuming the adult has a FOID. correct? Is this an area where Illinois isn't as bad as some other states?
RoadyRunner Posted April 15, 2017 at 09:32 PM Share Posted April 15, 2017 at 09:32 PM There is nothing in Illinois Law prohibiting an under 14 child from firing a handgun under adult, FOID holding supervision.

Riverpilot Posted April 16, 2017 at 09:30 PM Share Posted April 16, 2017 at 09:30 PM Will Iowa be the next state to go constitutional carry?Doubtful. This new legislation is a great step forward, but the original bill was FANTASTIC. It had Constitutional carry, lifetime permits (to carry in states who needed a permit), and quite a few other things. A few republicans got scared and agreed to strip out constitutional carry, etc... This may very well be the last year Iowa had a chance to get things done for several years. With Gov. Branstad leaving to China (most likely), Reynolds will be the new governor until the new election. I don't think she has a chance of being elected governor of Iowa, so hopefully a Republican with a chance runs against her in the prelims. Otherwise, dems will most likely get the new governor. Thankfully we got this in 2017. I don't see things getting better in Iowa with more out of state people coming in with leftish views.
