Rieger Posted June 1, 2018 at 02:44 PM Share Posted June 1, 2018 at 02:44 PM My wife misplaced her wallet and has started the process to get replacement FOID and CCL cards. She paid the fees ($75 alone just for the CCL replacement). It has been 5 weeks now and still nothing. When she checks on the ISP website they are still listed as "under review". I can not understand why they can not just send her new cards in the mail as they were not expired and she paid the ridiculous fees. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. She did try calling the ISP and after numerous attempts someone finally answered but was not very helpful and could not give her a timeline as to when she could expect her new cards...while she waits unable to carry/defend herself. Molly B. Posted June 1, 2018 at 05:04 PM Share Posted June 1, 2018 at 05:04 PM This is a problem. I believe part of the long delay is that they treat replacements like a new application. It should be a simple process of printing new cards and shipping them out.
InterestedBystander Posted June 1, 2018 at 05:46 PM Share Posted June 1, 2018 at 05:46 PM So a replacement for a lost card can take up to 120 days? And they don't see a problem with that?
j2112morris Posted June 2, 2018 at 12:31 PM Share Posted June 2, 2018 at 12:31 PM I agree. Based on my recent address change fiasco, I am confident they treat any request for a card, as if, a new application. I feel this is completely unacceptable. jrc905 Posted June 2, 2018 at 10:33 PM Share Posted June 2, 2018 at 10:33 PM Well, that is disturbing to hear; seeing as I lost my wallet just a couple weeks ago. It was bad enough having to "French Connection" my car to make sure I didn't have anything dropped/cubbyholed. But I did leave the running boards intact. Rieger Posted June 4, 2018 at 08:04 PM Author Share Posted June 4, 2018 at 08:04 PM Thanks for the information thus far. Seems ridiculous at the least. It is bad enough there is $75 fee for a replacement CCL card. And now having to sit and wait defenseless for possibly 120 days before the reprinted card arrives. This needs to be addressed... MagSlap Posted July 3, 2018 at 02:48 AM Share Posted July 3, 2018 at 02:48 AM Its almost to the point that you shouldnt carry your CCL at all! "Sorry officer..I dont have my piece of plastic on me...You have my license. I am who I claim""Well citizen..While I can verify you have a valid CCL I'm afraid I'll have to issue a violation. Please sign here. You'll have to appear in court 3 weeks from now. Please bring your 'piece of plastic'.Judge: "While I find you have been irresponsible for not carrying your piece of plastic, your are legal. please pay the court fine of $75 and be on your way citizen" Meanwhile."I lost my piece of plastic"!!"Please pay $75 dollars....be reviewed yet again...and we'll send you a new one when we get 'round to it. In the mean time. You may not carry a firearm to defend yourself and your family" Please...welcome the retarded masters that run Illinois. Pay your taxes. Worship them...and say no more.Or else! "No FOID...no CCL...Please pay $18 dollars and be on your way....Because I value my job as a judge. HEY! I have to protect my 100% pension when I retire at the age of 50 doncha know!. 2A4Cook Posted July 14, 2018 at 05:08 PM Share Posted July 14, 2018 at 05:08 PM When I lost my wallet, it took over a month to get a replacement card. $75. Have to renew soon, pay for another class, another $153 and probably a hideous wait since they don't even have the procedure down and will get hit with everyone at once. I sure as heck hope you can renew a few months before expiration, so that you don't have to walk around defenseless while they take their time mailing you the magic card that validates your constitutional right you were already approved for! Funny how they worry about the "right" of idiots to illegally shut down an expressway, or of illegal invaders to a court hearing in order to kick them out... Woodrift Posted July 15, 2018 at 01:56 PM Share Posted July 15, 2018 at 01:56 PM What's the legality of requesting a replacement card while you still have yours? Like having a spare pair of glasses, or a spare tire, it'll be there in case you need it.

Chiburbian Posted July 20, 2018 at 06:17 PM Share Posted July 20, 2018 at 06:17 PM So Molly, how do we go about getting this fixed? I lost my CCP/FOID about a month back. FOID came in a somewhat reasonable time period. What is the ISP's reasoning for taking so long for lost CCL? Why would they need new prints to speed up process? Who's butt needs a boot in it? This seems to be a administrative thing, not a legislative.
Molly B. Posted July 20, 2018 at 06:30 PM Share Posted July 20, 2018 at 06:30 PM It is administrative and the biggest issue is the FOID and CCL data systems do not interface. FOID can't reach over to CCL and tell it good to go. I believe that have to wait on a live person to do it.
jrc905 Posted July 30, 2018 at 02:26 PM Share Posted July 30, 2018 at 02:26 PM FYI - I reported my FOID and CCL lost on May 22. While I got new FOID in about 3 weeks; the CCL replacement FINALLY got approved July 26. Hoping it's in the mail today.

FOID can't reach over to CCL and tell it good to go. Which just about made me faint! Then I saw that the charge was also for an address change for the FOID.CCL - $75.00FOID - $5.00... + the "convenience" fee of $1.

I realize it's administrative, but how do we get that administrative issue fixed? Talk to our reps to get the ISP more money? How do we hold their feet to the fire? I know it's not as simple as getting people to do their jobs. The system is messed up. How do we get the system fixed? I have a little more than a month to go on getting my replacement CCL. I am not expecting this issue to be fixed before I get mine, but if we can fix it for the next guy, I am happy to put my shoulder into the wheel and push. Same goes for change of address. People shouldn't be disarmed because they decided to move.
InterestedBystander Posted August 9, 2018 at 11:08 PM Share Posted August 9, 2018 at 11:08 PM Talk to our reps to get the ISP more money?Based on FOID / CCL fees and the percentage going to the State Police Firearm Services Fund, It would appear they have received $42M+. Seems enough to get started hiring some staff and updating IT systems improving efficiency and processing times.
