FLMOPE Posted March 29, 2020 at 12:34 AM Share Posted March 29, 2020 at 12:34 AM Just what the title says. Is the dept that processes CCLs and FOIDs working? Is there any official statements on this?

Euler Posted March 29, 2020 at 01:37 AM Share Posted March 29, 2020 at 01:37 AM The Firearm Services Bureau is not only working, they have open job postings to increase staffing. Those familiar with government postings know that open jobs aren't always open jobs, of course.

Molly B. Posted March 29, 2020 at 03:27 AM Share Posted March 29, 2020 at 03:27 AM Yes, we have been told they are working and I believe they will be until we hear otherwise. My guess, it is still not a full staff but there are some very hard working people there who are doing their best under the circumstances and limited personnel. InterestedBystander Posted March 29, 2020 at 05:33 AM Share Posted March 29, 2020 at 05:33 AM Considering they were already 10s of thousands in backlog, I would guess the recent rush in buying of guns + ammo by first timers has to create more of a processing slow down as they seek FOID cards. Had also previously read FSB work needed to be done in office and no WFH, but maybe thats changed with Covid19.
davel501 Posted March 29, 2020 at 06:14 AM Share Posted March 29, 2020 at 06:14 AM Work slowdowns are not all labor initiated. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Lee_lane_closure_scandal If the FOID must exist then it must be computerized. Creating an artificial bottleneck by creating an overly hands on process and under resourcing it is criminal. They would lose their minds if a Bible belt state required abortion permits that took 2 years to get.

I remember reading that ISP said they had a huge backlog of firearm sales to get through.

THE KING Posted March 30, 2020 at 10:22 PM Share Posted March 30, 2020 at 10:22 PM So if ISP holds true to current practice, "sets" probably means they only have 4 people working in the office.
