Dec. 30, 2016 - a man in his 20s was walking down the street on the South Side when a 19-year-old man pulled out a gun and tried to rob him. The man, a CCL holder, pulled out his own gun and shot the robber in the head, killing him.
May 27, 2017 - Three teens tried to rob a man as he left a bank in Oak Park where he had just withdrawn $260 from an ATM. One of the teens, 16, pulled a gun, and the man got his own gun from the center console of his car. They exchanged shots, and the teen was killed.
June 14, 2017 - A man was stopped at a light when two men walked up on either side of his Ford Fusion, one distracting him while the other reached in and grabbed his cellphone. "No, get away," the driver yelled and fired out the passenger window. The men ran off, apparently unharmed and unarmed. No charges were filed.
July 20, 2017 - Two women became embroiled in a "verbal traffic dispute'' that escalated and ended with one woman firing a shot, hitting the other in the chest. The woman who fired the shot had a concealed carry license.
Aug. 21, 2017 – Man drew his gun and fired through the open driver's side window, hitting the teen, who was stealing the vehicle, in the chest and killing him. The man had a concealed carry license and was not charged.
October 13, 2017 - A woman in Moline, Illinois was able to protect herself with her concealed carry firearm after a stranger with a knife jumped into her car.
Dec. 12, 2017 - A person standing nearby pointed a gun at a man and tried to rob the man, who held a CCL. The man drew his own gun, and shot and seriously wounded the robber.
Dec. 15, 2017 - A concealed carry license holder fatally shot a man who tried to rob him at gunpoint Thursday night in a South Side business parking lot, according to authorities.
Jan. 8, 2018 - A man walked up to three people in Austin and said, "This is a stick-up, give me everything," according to police. He started going through their pockets and taking a cellphone and money before one of the men, a CCL holder, drew his gun and fired, killing the robber.
March 27, 2018 - A man from Mount Prospect saw three people attacking a man and pulled out his gun to scare them away.
June 4, 2018 – a 63-year-old man with a concealed carry license shot a 16-year-old boy who was trying to rob him in South Chicago .
June 2018: Galva man's use of deadly force ruled justifiable self-defense.
Jan. 1, 2019: A 29-year-old man sidelined a New Years Eve robbery in Logan Square by shooting the two suspects he said tried to rob him.
Jan. 9, 2019: A woman fatally shot a man who was trying to rob her at a bus stop Tuesday morning in Chicago's Fernwood neighborhood
Jan.10, 2019: A concealed-carry permit holder shot a man who authorities said was trying to rob him Thursday afternoon in north suburban Waukegan
