I cant think of a better twist American history.

After the US government systematically disarmed the Native Americans for them to acquire one of Americas oldest gun brands would be great!

Imagine subsequent gun grabber ridiculous lawsuits moving forward. There goes the white man again, cheating the natives with their crooked legal system. Cue SJW tears and confusion.

It may protect Remington from some lawsuits and laws??? Due to treaties and sovereign nation rights?

That would be awesome. Maybe they will improve quality. I have old 1100s with tens of thousands of shells that run like a Swiss watch. Tried one of their newer models and it was a finicky POS. I’ve always liked them because that’s what I grew up shooting. Their older 700 rifles were great too, not so much with the newer cost cutting models.

They plan to "shift the company away from its consumer business" and "use profits from those businesses to invest in research and development of advanced “smart guns”", according to the New York Times article from the last time they tried to purchase the company. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/16/business/dealbook/remington-sale-navajo-nation.html

Remington files for Chapter 11 bankrunptcy

NPR

The Remington Arms Co. has filed for bankruptcy protection in federal court in Alabama as it seeks to restructure for the second time since 2018 amid ongoing legal and financial challenges.

The 204-year-old U.S. gun-maker, among the best-known brands of firearms, filed for Chapter 11 protection Monday at a time when heightened anxieties linked to the coronavirus pandemic, a slowing economy and ongoing national protests following George Floyd's killing have led to record-high U.S. gun sales.

In fact, the FBI reported in June it conducted 3.9 million firearm background checks, a proxy for gun sales. That eclipsed the previous record in March of 3.7 million criminal checks to see if a gun could be legally possessed or purchased.

...

The Wall Street Journal reported the gun-maker had been in "advanced talks" to sell to the Navajo Nation, but the talks collapsed.

...

Remington's previous bankruptcy filing came two years ago during a period of slumping gun sales.

...

During its 2018 bankruptcy filing, Remington was allowed to shed $775 million in debt, The New York Times reported. As part of its restructuring, the business transferred ownership to former creditors, including Franklin Templeton Investments and J.P. Morgan Asset Management, according to the newspaper.

Chapter 13 is dissolution. Chapter 11 is trying to get out of paying your bills.

Remington is like practically every other brand atm. All their handguns are sold out everywhere. When you sell everything you make and you still don't have enough money to pay the bills, something is wrong with your management.

Between lawsuits and firearm sales restrictions from originating Sandy Hook, that's a big part of what is killing Remington.

I think this is fantastic idea a big .. to those who wanted to destroy them, they get nothing but big lawyer bills.

The can start over In the Navajo Nation, good luck with that. As Tonto says what do you me WE white man ;)
