bbkchicago Posted June 23, 2020 at 04:45 AM Share Posted June 23, 2020 at 04:45 AM Howdy. I figured I'd ask here first before I buy online - always like to spend money as local as possible. I'm looking to start reloading again after 20 years since my last load. From what I see, the technology hasn't changed too much. Does anyone have a setup they're looking to sell? I'd prefer progressive, but I'm not doing a ton of volume so a single stage would hold me over for a while. If it matters, I'm wanting to do 6.5x55 Swedish and 9x19 Luger. Also I plan on getting one of those silly hand kits to do my own rimfire loads since I'm an amateur chemist and like doing tracers and such. Right now I have literally nothing, so anything related you're looking to unload, ping me and let's do a deal. If I don't hear anything by the 1st I'll just go ahead and buy online. Thanks, folks. bbkchicago Posted June 23, 2020 at 04:46 AM Author Share Posted June 23, 2020 at 04:46 AM Shoot, I'm kinda new here and just realized there's a subforum for this. Can a mod move it, please? My apologies.
spec5 Posted June 24, 2020 at 02:39 AM Share Posted June 24, 2020 at 02:39 AM You can not reload rimfire. I love my Dillon RL550. Not for sale however.

bbkchicago Posted June 26, 2020 at 12:53 AM Author Share Posted June 26, 2020 at 12:53 AM I know the rimfire reloading stuff seems kinda hokey, but I've had good results in the past making them. Usually have a failure about 1% of the time, almost never in a bolt action.

bbkchicago Posted June 28, 2020 at 11:01 PM Author Share Posted June 28, 2020 at 11:01 PM Speaking of which, I am gonna load up a few boxes of 22lr in July. Gonna do my little "exploding tracers" which are kinda silly but they're fun little rounds. If anyone wants to try out a box, ping me near the end of July and I can toss a few rounds your way. For safety reasons (and after what happened to me today) I'd like to insist that these only be fired from a bolt action. If you don't mind that stipulation, I'm always happy to share whatever I have with fellow enthusiasts.
DD123 Posted July 15, 2020 at 04:29 PM Share Posted July 15, 2020 at 04:29 PM While you can do that Swede cartridge on a progressive, my preference for match grade accuracy is to use a single stage for that stuff. However, 9mm on a single stage SUCKS, more so if you shoot in volume. I went from a single stage which I still own and use frequently to adding on a Dillon 650 for 9mm, .40, 45, and 223 hoser stuff. Every other caliber I own I don't shoot large volumes of so the single stage works great, although being spoiled by the 650, I usually hate loading on the single stage. To speed things up a bit, and what I really should have done when I first got into reloading is buy a quality turret press like the Redding T7. It probably increases your production rate 3-4X what it would be on a single stage. That Redding turret is rock solid and you can crank out precision loads, and still have the ability to crank out 9mm in respectable speeds. You won't get the 500-600 rounds per hour as you would with a progressive, but 200 or so rounds an hour isn't too bad.
bbkchicago Posted July 21, 2020 at 06:05 AM Author Share Posted July 21, 2020 at 06:05 AM I need primers, and apparently people are hoarding this stuff?? That sucks. Anyone know where I can buy small pistol primers?
