EdDinIL Posted November 9, 2018 at 08:26 PM Share Posted November 9, 2018 at 08:26 PM The pinned list of veto session bills is a start, but it is by no means complete. http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70246 If there's an archive of the activity over the past year from all the "calls to action" that occurred, that would be a good source to sift through. Question for you... Is this someone a person who is completely innocent and untouched by firearm politics, or is he inclined to read this list and say, "Well, you don't need X, Y or Z, so Democrats aren't trying to limit your rights." ? InterestedBystander Posted November 9, 2018 at 08:36 PM Share Posted November 9, 2018 at 08:36 PM It isnt just proposals either. Dems have a majority on most if not all firearms committees and they vote down pro 2A Repub submitted bills so they dont go anywhere assuming Madigan/Cullerton let them get to committee. I have a list of 150 or so submitted firearm bills for 2018 with sponsor name but the sponsor party is not on it. Let me know if you want a PM. If you look at the recent history of anti-gun bills both at the state and Federal level, they have been largely proposed/sponsored by handful of the same Democrats. Unfortunately, they do so with a whole flock of like-minded Democrats standing behind them looking all angry.

If you have a flock of like-minded Democrats standing behind the fire starters Democrats, a flock that will vote along Democratic party lines, how are they not fuel on the anti-gun fire? You are correct. They are the fuel on the anti-gun fire. But if the OP's friend only sees the fire-starters and not the mindless flock, he may be thinking it's not everyone being responsible for the anti-gun movement and that they're just voting along the party lines for the sake of party unity. If he read this forum on a regular basis, it would dispel himself of that notion.

Not necessarily like-minded, just tribal. Both parties do it.

markthesignguy Posted November 10, 2018 at 10:21 AM Share Posted November 10, 2018 at 10:21 AM I guess we have to start practicing how to convince willful idiots. There are SIXTY democrats in the Illinois House that are rated F or D which means they have invariably voted against gunowners ALL of the time!!! NOW next term, with REALLY MAJOR wishful thinking, we MIGHT get just enough (60) votes to pass a good gun bill in the House. Whereas THEY barely have to lift a finger to swing a veto proof majority. Illinois House makeup next session:60 rated F or D41 rated A or B17 new names that didn't answer questionnaire: 9 democrats and 8 Republican and that's not factoring in all the backstabbed gun votes of 2018-------
lilguy Posted November 10, 2018 at 11:24 AM Share Posted November 10, 2018 at 11:24 AM · Hidden by mauserme, November 10, 2018 at 02:46 PM - No reason given Hidden by mauserme, November 10, 2018 at 02:46 PM - No reason given Its a testament to hard work that we have held off bans all these years. Itll be near impossible to stop the freight train rolling towards us now. Illinois is lost, we will know soon whats coming. It was depressing visiting Cabelas gun library yesterday, but once I cut a deal on the first group the rest will go easy. We all know folks who are involved in the firearms fraternity that are not involved in the political fight. 2 million plus FOID holders would be an unstoppable juggernaut for our rights if they would mobilize, but I bet not 5% are active in the fight. Dealers, MSRs and hicaps are in their sites and itll come fast. Link to comment
