mauserme Posted November 5, 2017 at 08:16 PM Share Posted November 5, 2017 at 08:16 PM . After the legislature last met, on 10/26/2017, Senator Don Harmon filed Senate Amendment 1 on SB333 Regulation Tech, creating a trailer bill to SB1657 Gun Dealer Licensing. His hope? That delaying and better defining some provisions of dealer licensing bill will buy a few House votes. We continue to call on all House Members to reject his requirement to film our most private activities. Toward this end, please see our current Call to Action. Today, we will not see a hearing on the amendment to SB333. Nor will we see one this the final week of the 2017 Fall Veto Session, because Senator Harmon secretly approved his amendment in the Senate Assignments Committee, a committee he co-chairs. We had held a higher opinion of the Senator - a mistake we will not repeat. Though neither the House nor the Senate are scheduled for floor action today, there is one item of interest on the House Judicuary - Criminal Committee schedule. HR648 Firearm Awareness Task Force may be heard today. We will also keep a close watch on HB4120 Crim Cd Ban Bump-Fire Stock, in case that somehow finds its way onto the schedule as well. Action is slated to begin at 3:00 PM, in Room D-1. Next Days Scheduled House: 11/7/2017 Senate: 11/7/2017 .

mauserme Posted November 5, 2017 at 11:35 PM Author Share Posted November 5, 2017 at 11:35 PM We had held a higher opinion of the Senator You're kidding me right? There was still room for him to diminish his reputation and now he's taken advantage of that opportunity.
InterestedBystander Posted November 6, 2017 at 12:28 AM Share Posted November 6, 2017 at 12:28 AM So,educate me please. Is my understanding correct that the assignments committee does not have to actually assign? They can approve and bypass it to the floor for debate? Is this the case with all bills or just amendments?
mauserme Posted November 6, 2017 at 03:11 AM Author Share Posted November 6, 2017 at 03:11 AM It's unusual for the Committee on Assignments to approve legislative measures, but it does have the authority.

mauserme Posted November 6, 2017 at 09:57 PM Author Share Posted November 6, 2017 at 09:57 PM Ms. Rowe commends Representative Ford for the things he is trying to accomplish. She adds two areas of concern: our desire to include an analysis relating to the outcome of straw purchaser cases, and a review of prosecution, conviction and sentencing of violent crimes committed with firearms. ie Are they prosecuted under local ordinance, which allows only minor penalties, under state law, or under Federal law? She indicates that Representative Ford expressed a willingness to address these concerns and, in response to the Chair, Ms. Rowe acknowledges the possibility of lending our support depending, of course, on the actual language.
