March for our Lives

Anyone plan on going to one of the March for our Lives walks? Looks like there will be a big one in Chicago, plus some smaller ones in the Chicago burbs, but also some down state.

I was thinking of showing up with a US flag and a maybe making a few signs.

What good will counter protesting do? These people are irreparably stupid. They cannot be reasoned with. Also, there is a lot of rogue money being dumped into their "cause" to buy signs and transportation and etc.

Let's not burn ourselves out on excercises in futility. Let's spend our time and energy lobbying our legislators and getting the right people elected. Most of us work, so between work and family, time is limited. Let's make the best of what we can spare.

I have looked critically at the Chicago location.

IF they get anywhere near their anticipated numbers that area will be a logistical nightmare. Both getting in and maintaining order.

I see a disaster in the making.

And a heck of a lot of police overtime - as well as other areas losing their police coverage to man this event.

Transportation is poor, minimal parking nearby, El-train and bus timing and capacity will also be a SERIOUS choke point.

Then the access to the park through the streets has many more choke points.

The neighborhood? ANTI-GUN participants? I suspect a feeding frenzy.

A MARCH??? They are keeping the route secret :

Good Morning everyone, we’re two days out from the big day and many of you are concerned about the march route. With that being said, we will not be releasing the march route until we’re given the OK because there are safety issues concerning possible protestors that could block the route.

As for money? EVERYTOWN is dumping a bunch of cash and expertise behind the scenes into this.

They got themselves a real bunch of useful idiots.

The only way counter-protesting seems to me to be effective is for the counter-protesters to be hospitalized.

Think the bashers that showed up for Trump rallies. Don't for a second think they won't be there in search of a little "fun".

Then civilly sue the kid organizers and their parents for promoting a riot.

hmmm, interesting (from the event's web page):

By choosing to attend this event, you are committing to participate nonviolently and in accordance with the law, to work to de-escalate confrontations with others, and to obey the orders of authorized event marshals and of law enforcement. You also acknowledge that you are solely responsible for any injury or damage to your person or property resulting from or occurring during this event and that you release all event sponsors and organizers (and their officers, directors, employees, and agents) from any liability for that injury or damage.

Their brainwashing is working too. I just got out of a damn txt debate with my Ex Wife (who WILL be marching). I heard all the lines of their propaganda, Heard the following too "No one should have military grade weapons", So, I ask what she thinks military grade is. "I assume it means automatic". Of which I explain what auto matic, semi-automatic means and what the REAL military grade weapons I used in the Army Reserves and the Air Force are/were. To which I get the classic answer "I don't appreciate your right wing nut rhetoric" and end of debate.:

I think it would make a difference if a bunch of pro gun people to show up to these things....but I'm gonna stay far away. Way to much potential for these big leftist protests to turn violent and have people get attacked by a mob of leftists. Then Allah forbid you defend yourself and then you will have no defense for that because you will be made out as wanting to go down there and get into a fight. And the kangaroo court will be held in Cook County. No thanks.

I wanted to go to the Princeton Gun Show Saturday and get in trouble, but ...

There's a protest scheduled for Frankfort, just a few hundred feet from my back door at 2:00 PM.

(Snowflakes don't like to get up too early I guess)

I'll be there with a few friends, my NRA hat, NRA Instructor jacket and a big friendly smile on my face.

Might put together a sign offering; "Facts versus Feelings", in case any media types show up.

My guess? They'll cover the downtown one with Flaky Pfleger's crew and maybe Naperville, since so many media types live there anyway.

We'll be at the corner of White and Nebraska streets a little before 2PM, waiting to see if they even show up in the rain and sleet we're supposed to get.

Good luck to anyone else going out

I fear we are on the slippery slope to gun bans. The antis have learned they are more effective at the state level. The NRA is far less

able to fight on 50 different fronts. Bloomberg knows this and is pumping millions into these local demonstrations. Illinois’ high watermark was when we got CCW by court order. We are pushing a bolder up hill now.

My daughter is in high school and she has very good friends, nice well mannered kids that don't get into trouble ever. 2 of her friends are going to a march and wanted her to go, she flat out refused and told them what the real agenda is and who funds it ( we talk about such things ). Her friends told her they're not against guns at all but "everyone else is going" and they don't want to miss out. My daughter instantly realized I was telling her the truth about sheep and the reason the tyrannical leftists target kids to push the agenda. I told her keep them away from the Tide Pods.

100% indoctrination of these kids. They are using these kids for their own left wing agenda. Parents need to stop this 1984 bull crap and keep their kids home. They are not learning at school when they are pulling this crap.

Remember, Southwest is giving them free rides. Boycott them...

Where did you see Southwest airlines they're giving free rides? I saw lyft is doing it if it's $15 or less and the march is the destination.

...Southwest Airlines donated the airline tickets and the Gaby Giffords Foundation also funded the trip. Hilton hotels also donated the rooms the students will stay in while in Washington, D.C....

Every news service I glance at when I get to my desk has this March for Life coverage featured as top news. I didn't click on one link, or read a single story. I did see a story headline yesterday that George Clooney said, he was proud of his country again. That sure made my day. I slept better knowing that George was feeling this way.

Just got back from the Frankfort "March". About 200 gun grabbers and 25 or so of us. We succeeded because we annoyed the crap out of them, just by being there. The paid organizer told us we needed to go "over there" out of camera shot and we just said "no" as a group and stood our ground.

Overheard by myself and ISRA friends at the Frankfort gun control march this afternoon. Four older women talking among themselves; "We have to stop the NRA from selling machine guns to 16 year olds".

No argument there ladies, absolutely .... if that was ever actually a problem, since Machine guns have been tightly regulated by the Feds since 1934. (Please, spend 30 seconds with Google before you spout nonsense as if it were fact)

The "Children's March" was run by Emily Biegel, a trained and paid organizer from the Southwest Suburban Activist Organization, supported by, in her own words; "Generous Grants from the Bloomberg Group". For some reason most of the "guest" speakers in Frankfort were from Thornton Fractional North and points East? Only one was from the Frankfort area and that was somebody's mother.

Watched two of the "peaceful" protestors try and start something and physically pushed an NRA member, to move him and his protest sign out of a camera shot. The police deputy had to step in and explain that it was indeed a "Public Square" and we could stand where we chose to. There were several attempts to provoke something. We kept out hands in our pockets and smiles on our faces and didn't get suckered in.

Two of us were followed out of a parking lot by a gun control "supporter" in a Prius trying to insult us. As if a skinny weasel driving a used Prius has room to insult anyone about anything.

Also learned much about myself from the "Peaceful Protestors", from their own mouths to my face. Things like; I want more dead children. I care more about guns than my children ... or grand children. (That may come as a surprise to them) I am a Terrorist. My mere presence frightened and intimidated all the children. I am old and will die soon, so no one should have to listen to me. After their laws get passed, I will have to surrender all my rifles and handguns, or these peace loving people will send men with guns to take them by force.

Kept my hands in my pockets and a smile on my face and that really annoyed some of them. Very enlightening experience. So much heat, so very little light.

I guess I’m just a grouchy old guy. On every twitter and Facebook link I posted the poster for IGOLD 2018 and a photo of a past march.

Hehe.

Why are they interviewing children 8, 11, 14 years old? The sound bite of them saying there should be mo guns? Although I suppose their ability to think about and understand what they are saying is just as good as the celebrities and legislators speaking.

Interesting looking at some photos...the same signs in DC I see at the local Glen Ellyn, Schaumburg, Vernon Hills events (which did not surprise) but also saw the same ones in the protests in Switzerland, Germany, etc.

I was wondering if anyone had been watching the live television coverage in DC. Certainly not MSNBC, but maybe more balanced like CSPAN. I kind of wanted to, but decided it would not be good for my blood pressure.

I just turned on the TV to see if anyone was covering Chicago because I hope those people freeze.

There was nothing local so up to the higher channels. Nothing on Fox news so up to CNN.

They had a commercial on and then I saw Amy Schumer. "They lie and lie".

I cant take Amy Schumer seriously. I was waiting for her to start talking about her crotch.

Plus no agenda there, she's related to Chuck Schumer.

The crowd was literally about 500 people and that was LA, it's got to be pretty nice there.

I don't think they are getting the MSM coverage they expected.

ABC7 Chicago ran it live on their website, complete with helicopter coverage for the crowd shots. Pretty good crowd of thousands, but I don't think it was the 15k they expected.

From CNN coverage of a counter-protest:

"We got called all kinds of names," Ciabottonia said. "Some lady told me to get lost because there were kids. Not quite sure what that's supposed to mean, but as soon as I got here people started talking. So it's been OK."

I had to think about this one for a while. I think the "lady" was conflating the gun rights counter-protest with white supremacists, like the rally in Charlottesville last year.

From the article:

A counter-protest had been planned Saturday, according to Frankfort police and march organizers. But expect(sic) for a brief bit of horn-honking from a circling car, no counter-protesters were seen near Breidert Green or along the march route.

According to Patch, you don't exist.

Funny how they somehow missed 40 men and women with NRA Hats, a big VFW and American Flag, right in front of the stage, ain't it? Almost like they didn't want to see us.

One weasel did tell us we were "scaring the children".

But remember we've all seen this movie before. Remember the Million Mom March in DC? With Loudmouth Rosie O'Donnell as the speaker telling us how our guns were going to be banned ... for the children.

Then the wheels fell off that top down organization and nothing happened, other than some of them going to jail for fraud for not paying their bills.
