How long before ILGA tries this?

They have already submitted an ammunition serialization bill in 2019...which did not make it to committe and later had a motion to table.

Don't recall seeing any bills only permitting to sell from an approved handgun list

Microstamping is not serialization. It's laser engraving every firing pin with a unique mark or serial, so that every shell shot from that handgun is 'imprinted' with the unique ident. Except, it is super easily defeated, a minor amount of abrasion can ruin it. Criminals can pick up brass anywhere and leave it at a scene, so reasonable doubt is very easy. additionally, people often replace firing pins. It just doesn't work for 'crime fighting', What it does do is make it much more onerous and expensive to buy. Without a list like CAs it is merely a 'poll tax' for 2A rights in practice. Additionally, it makes Gun makers less likely to sell in that state, which makes it effectively banning guns without actually technically banning them.

Yeah, I had those confused. The issues around abrasions, picking up brass at range, etc Ive seen discussed before. In spite of that, their lack of knowledge would not be stopping them from filing.

But I think more near term they will go after "assault weapons", magazines, mail order parts and ammo if they even get around to gun bills this session.
