Moving out of Illinois

The statute offers no provision to “convert” your CCL when moving to become a resident of a substantially similar state. The ISP will cancel your FCCL when you get your new driver’s license, and you will need to reapply for the IL FCCL once you obtain a permit or license in your new state.

Several on this forum have reported this happening to them in the past.

Do you need an Illinois FCCL? Are you going to return to Illinois and visit?

Primary reason I want the non-resident is so I don't have to wait for my new ccl from the state I'm going to.

In which case, you still have your old CCL so use that until your new permit from your new home state comes in.

I've been trying to search an answer, and can't find it. I'm looking to leave Illinois, I'm going to a state that Illinois allows to get a non-resident ccl. Will Illinois allow me to convert my ccl to a non-resident license? Thank you.

There's a reason you can't find an answer, Illinois non-residents ccl states ZERO.

Get a Florida license, honored in TX, before you leave. Turn around time for an LTC in TX is not too bad..

BTW, just saw TX LTCs are taking 20-60 days to issue, depending on BG checks.

Not sure what youre trying to say.

At last count, 57 nonresidents had an IL CCL.

But you cant convert from res to nonres.

Where did you find the number of non-resident licenses?
There is a monthly (I think) post of data from a FOIA request

edit: Thought there was something more recent but here is an end of year data post

I've been collecting these data via FOIA requests but am delinquent in posting them here. I'll get everyone up to date in the next week or two.
