Mr. Fife Posted November 2, 2018 at 11:58 PM Share Posted November 2, 2018 at 11:58 PM FYI This may have been mentioned before, not sure. I had one of my students call me saying they got a letter of denial from ISP because of lack of signature on the training certificate. I'm very careful to get it right, so I asked him to send me a copy of the letter and certificate. It turns out that my signature was there, but the student didn't sign his own signature. The letter says they will deny in 60 days if the proper certificate is not provided. My student signed his name, but it would not accept the new certificate. He discovered that he first had to delete the offending certificate before the system would accept the corrected one. Something to keep in mind. spec5 Posted November 3, 2018 at 01:10 AM Share Posted November 3, 2018 at 01:10 AM Measure twice cut once. I signed and dated mine and had my wife check to see if ALL blanks were filled out. Check and check again. Actually it's a good idea to make sure in class that the signature and date is on the form before the person leaves. Thanks Fife for the heads up. That's what I do: I make sure each student signs the certificate before they leave. But even before that, I have them verify that the first name and last name exactly match what is on their drivers license. -- Frank

In class I have them fill out the certificate and making sure their name appears exactly as on their DL. I walk around the room and point where they need to sign. I collect all the certs I double check each one before I sign it.

Tango7 Posted November 3, 2018 at 08:57 PM Share Posted November 3, 2018 at 08:57 PM jump through the hoops. While I know there are pro-2A folks in the ISP and FSB, I have no doubt that there are still some who predate the current administration who despise having lost their special status and are finding new and creative ways of appearing to justify the difficulty they impose on the exercise of our Rights - the "new and improved certificate" comes to mind. If there really was an issue with "blank certificates being posted online" then why not try using the system that one of the states you contacted - Kansas - uses, and have instructors upload course rosters? The current website could easily be adapted for it. Probably for the same reason so many states are "not substantially similar" for not returning a questionnaire, even if their laws really are - because actually researching involves doing investigation type stuff that resembles work, and it only benefits those not-yet-indicted gun owners. They snicker when they see a questionnaire from Illinois.
