Hey all. Just wondering if there is anything that prohibits concealed carry while fishing, providing the area you are fishing in is not a GFZ.

This is a good question.

I Ccl while I fish, I haven’t fished anywhere that was posted.

Army COE land prohibits, and doesn't post.  Be careful.

Yeah. I don't frequent any areas under their control. Just wondered if IDNR had anything in the wildlife code, but I haven't been able to find anything.

I posed this question to one of my CPO friend and he said it was okay. The reason I asked the question is when hunting, you can't if you can't take the game with the handgun. You also need a license to fish and although there are provision for taking some fish with a bow, you can't do it with a handgun.

I'm not freaking out about it, but I do not find anything in the law which prohibits it, so I will carry on.

You have to hunt and fish according to the rules of how you are licensed. There is an exemption from a UUW if you have a firearm with you while engaged in your sport. Since you need a CCL to carry concealed, I assume it means open carry or unloaded case carry. But make your own decision. If you have a CCL and it's not a prohibited place, carry concealed with your CCL.
