Sneaky Pete?

Sneaky Pete isnt my first choice anymore.

Lets say you like to carry at 3 Oclock. Problem is it moves on your belt. When relying on muscle memory this could be a problem.

Next you can full get a grip on the firearm before pulling it out. It is impossible. That increases the chance of fumbling with it so I will stick to my crossbreed

I've wondered the same thing about the Sneaky Pete holster. It doesn't look like a holster even though it is. It is designed to be worn outside the waistband but, it conceals the weapon from view. I'd like to hear some feedback from any LEO, Attorneys, or Todd on this. For those of you unfamiliar with the Sneaky Pete holsters, watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EXEppyv8q4

I have one for my glock 42 and I wore it outside of my tshirt alot in the summer. I wasnt around any police so I dont know if they would say anything. Now I have grip extentions for my glock 42 mags so my g42 wont fit in it unless I use the mag without extention so I havent used it in a while. But I like it I posted a review on here about the sneaky pete.

i used one for a while to foid carry. prefer iwb now that i have my ccp.

This is really important to us here in Illinois. If you carry a semi auto pistol with no round in the chamber (Israeli carry) you can easily switch between concealed and FOIA carry by merely raising the case flap and popping the mag out. This enables you to enter any non-Federal prohibited area legally. It is equally easy to reinsert the mag without fully removing the gun from the Sneaky Pete. I have one for my Glock 26 and find it is too big to wear comfortably, but I think it would be great if sized for a pocket 32 or 380.

I contacted the ISP via email and asked them about the "Sneaky Pete" holster. I also provided them with links to Sneaky Pete's website and a youtube video review. Here is their reply:

The Illinois State Police cannot provide legal advise. We can only direct
you to what is written in law.

"Concealed firearm" means a loaded or unloaded handgun carried on or about
a person completely or mostly concealed from view of the public or on or
about a person within a vehicle.

Respectfully,
Illinois State Police
Firearms Services Bureau
Concealed Carry Unit

And the Sneaky Pete complies. End of discussion.

So if a SP is legal what about a flap style holster where the flap completely covers the grip and none of the gun itself is actually visible?

shaped like a gun? Probably not. Shaped like an IPad case, probably ok.

I don't see that the shape of the "case" that completely conceals a firearm has any relevancy under the law. Concealed is concealed, and the fact that you can logically infer that the case has a weapon would not seem to matter. I would not carry a gun in a totally enclosed holster shaped case though since you give up the tactical advantage of being truly concealed.

The Sneaky Pete case does not look like there's a gun in it. Therefore it's concealed. A holster with a flap looks like there's a gun in it, therefore it's not concealed. At least that's the way I see it. Your mileage may vary.
