  1. Update: I've put 500 or so rounds in my Glock 19C and I'm digging it the more I use it. The grip fills my hands better than my super thin Shield so the felt recoil is definitely reduced. Ejections were weak with Winchester 115 gr. target ammo and I had a few FTE's to deal with. But once I switched to heavier grain ammo, no hiccups. I also tried some 115gr. Di-Cut hollow point from IMI Systems and while those suckers would give me reason for some Tylenol with the Shield, no pain issues running them in the ported G19. I still train with the Shield but I don't put 100 rounds through it in one session lol. Again, the advice from you all has been very helpful and is appreciated.
  2. I should have posted Question 21 from the ISP FAQ's in it's entirety in my answer above: “Under Section 1.9 of the Act, semi-auto shotguns are limited to a 5 round capacity. Under Section 1.10 of the Act, shotguns (i.e., long guns) are limited to 10 rounds. 12-gauge shotgun shells come in 3 1/2’’, 3’’, 2 3/4’ and even mini shells of 1 1/2”. More than 5 mini shells will fit into a standard 12-gauge tube. How is capacity size determined?”
  3. From the PICA FAQ's - Question 21 regarding How Capacity Size is Determined: “Capacity” means the total number of rounds that can be used of the maximum identified chambered sized round. If the shotgun’s fixed magazine tube will accept more than 5-rounds of the maximum identified chambered size round, it is regulated by PICA and subject to the endorsement affidavit provisions. Extension tubes are neither fixed nor detachable magazines, however, they are considered an "assault weapon" attachment subject to the endorsement affidavit requirement if used for something other than hunting. If the shotgun’s fixed magazine tube will not accept more than 5 rounds of the maximum identified chambered size round, it is not regulated by PICA unless it has one of the features otherwise regulated – for example a pistol grip or thumbhole stock. Section 1.10 of PICA does not regulate shotguns but rather regulates large capacity ammunition feeding devices. With respect to magazines, belts, drums, feed strips and other similar devices for shotguns, if it accepts more than 10 rounds of any type of ammunition it is regulated by PICA; however, the endorsement affidavit provisions do not apply to large capacity ammunition feeding devices. There is a specific exemption for tubular devices designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
  4. You all have been incredibly helpful and it's truly appreciated. I'm adding a ported Glock 19C to the mix for the time being. I may not be at the end of my search - there's always another reason for a new gun . After more range time, I'll give an update.
  5. Racking the slide is still ok. My thin fingers and wrists take a beating with the recoil though.
  6. I'm in my mid fifties and have a bit of arthritis in my wrists and elbows. My 9mm M&P Shield pops like a firecracker more noticeably these days LOL! I'm debating whether to get something in .380 or stick to 9mm and get a larger framed gun to absorb some of that recoil. Any help is appreciated!
  7. Here's some video from this transcript from Bishop On Air over on his Youtube Channel.
  8. I was in desperate need of a new FFL. Alex at Misha Tactical Arms was professional and down to earth to deal with and well worth the drive (from my home in Oak Park to Vernon Hills, IL. I bought a stripped lower off his website and could not be happier. Prices are quite reasonable to boot. Thanks Alex! And yes.... "Holy Old Thread from the Dead Batman"!
  9. Yeah, I was at Gat Guns this morning for some practice but I kept it to range time as opposed to my usual impulse buying. I'll check out what Chucks has in the next week. Besides more .38 special, I'm running low on cleaning supplies !
  10. Mine came today as well! I applied on 6/30/14 and went active 8/4/14.
