top_notch Posted August 15, 2017 at 04:48 PM Share Posted August 15, 2017 at 04:48 PM This happened a mile from my house. I drove past this truck on my way home from work yesterday. I saw the guy dead in the street. I probably missed the shooting by about two minutes. ============================ Here's the ironic part "We've determined that there's not a danger to the public," Lindhurst said. "The shooting in broad daylight at a busy intersection..." Guess what, if you, the public, were anywhere near that area during the shooting (which I was), you were in danger. Further, there is now a desperate criminal(s?), with a gun, fleeing from a crime scene. No telling what they would do to get away. Now tell me again how there is no danger to the public. My wife is anti, but damn if I don't need to keep working on converting her. My wife happened to be in the Jewel at the time of the shooting. Cops came in asking if they had seen a girl and flashed a picture. I think there may have been two on the loose. The Jewel across the way had the TCF bank robbed while my wife was shopping in the store. This happened about 2 years ago. ============================ http://www.dailyherald.com/news/2017...re-parking-lot A man shot in a store parking lot in Schaumburg ran into rush-hour traffic before collapsing onto the street Monday evening, and investigators were still looking for the shooter later in the night, police said. The man, who has not been identified, was shot in the chest outside the Walgreens on the 1100 block of Roselle Road off Wise Road about 5:20 p.m., police said. Based on a preliminary investigation, the victim and another man had been in an argument before shots were fired, Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said. Police are looking for one or possibly two suspects, she said. The victim, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in serious condition, police said. An update on his condition was not available several hours after the shooting. Investigators believe the men knew each other and the shooting was not random, Lindhurst said. Detectives have interviewed witnesses, canvassed the area and watched surveillance video, she said. "We've determined that there's not a danger to the public," Lindhurst said. The shooting in broad daylight at a busy intersection surprised some residents. Danielle Johnson, a lifelong Schaumburg resident, was driving to dinner when she saw a man lying on Roselle Road near a green pickup truck. Only one police vehicle had arrived at the scene when she drove by, Johnson said. "My first reaction was, 'Oh my gosh, someone got run over,'" Johnson said. "But that's obviously not the case." Johnson, who lives near the crime scene, said a shooting is unusual for the area. "It's scary," she said. "This is my neighborhood." The green truck was involved in the shooting, Lindhurst said. A couple of hours after the shooting, a man got into the vehicle and drove away. Roselle Road was shut down with yellow crime tape covering a broad swath of the area, from the Walgreens parking lot to a section of Jewel grocery parking lot across the street. Plinkermostly Posted August 15, 2017 at 05:17 PM Share Posted August 15, 2017 at 05:17 PM Caught that "not a danger" also. I live a tad closer and I have met several neighbors since and I give them that 'I told you so look' because I have gotten a lot of 'it can't happen here' politeness in the past. There is no security but what you bring yourself.

markthesignguy Posted August 15, 2017 at 07:23 PM Share Posted August 15, 2017 at 07:23 PM What the empty heads were probably trying to say is that it doesn't look like a "snackbar" killer is actively hunting more victims in the area.

mrmagloo Posted August 16, 2017 at 02:11 PM Share Posted August 16, 2017 at 02:11 PM Probably road rage. But the business about the green truck being driven away a few hours later by parties unknown, is sure curious. They can't control a major crime scene and the evidence? What's with that? C0untZer0 Posted August 16, 2017 at 03:58 PM Share Posted August 16, 2017 at 03:58 PM It wasn't road rage. I read in another story that Police believe the assailant was an acquaintance of the deceased. I think it was probably something stupid like, they went halves on a pack of cigarettes, Quentin took 11 cigarettes, his acquaintance flew into a rage and shot him - something like that. Blackbeard Posted August 16, 2017 at 06:56 PM Share Posted August 16, 2017 at 06:56 PM "Not a danger to the public" in this context means that the assailant meant to shoot that particular guy. He's not on the loose shooting random people for no reason.

Chicago312 Posted August 16, 2017 at 09:46 PM Share Posted August 16, 2017 at 09:46 PM Big deal! Welcome to an everyday thing in the city of Chi where only about 29% of the murders get solved. Now that's ironic
top_notch Posted August 17, 2017 at 12:53 AM Author Share Posted August 17, 2017 at 12:53 AM "Not a danger to the public" in this context means that the assailant meant to shoot that particular guy. He's not on the loose shooting random people for no reason. I agree, that's probably what he meant. But then, that is what he should say. If you believe nobody other than the intended victim is in danger during a shooting in broad daylight during rush hour then we are going to have to agree to disagree. If some stranger is shooting another man then my guess is he would have no qualms shooting me if I intervene, been in his way, he needed my ride, etc... To me his statement screams don't scare the sheeple.
