Another departure

Good luck on the move and in your future endeavors.

Personally, I'm terrified. It didn't really sink in until I tried to sleep that my home, family, work and entire life has been spent in such a small fishbowl of space. I'm excited for the future, but have to start over from scratch with employment which is a little surreal. Just the same, Illinois kind of left me before I gave up on it. Taxes, corruption, unpaid state debt, gerrymandering, the legislature's contempt for rights I hold sacred... I can't bear it anymore, and from the looks of it neither can so many others who have been part of this community. It's just time to go while we can leave peacefully and with whatever scraps of savings and dignity we have remaining.

I've finally reached a point where I can leave Illinois after living here my entire life (aside from college). Moving to a gun friendly, no state income tax state, the end of July. I intend to continue to support the Illinois State Rifle Association because of the good they do in the state for gun rights. All the best.

Best wishes to you. You are not alone.

We also left for a free state last May.

I continue to check in because I have always enjoyed IC and the determination to resist the dilution of 2A rights.

We still have family in Illinois but I have never felt a better sense of freedom, well being and happiness as I do now, living in a state that allows to me live as I choose without having to pay for everything like it is a duty.

It happens. I still cruise by here occasionally to see whats up in Illinois. Living in Texas has been a hoot. And I just had to explain to a friend that came down to see me...

No, go ahead and buy some ammo... there are no FOID cards here.

No you dont need to show ID here at the gun club. Pay this guy, and lets go.

Yes, I can buy this pistol right now, show my CCL, fill out the 4473 and walk out the door right then, 5 minutes all together..

Yes, that is a suppressor on that AR Short barrel. Gab it! oh and grab the 10/22 with a can also, that thing is real fun with subsonic ammo.

And the most fun: taking him to the state capital building in Austin, showing my CCL and walking around the metal detectors into the state capitol....
