  1. Another Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network customer. I like the training material they send you. If you buy it 10 years at a time the cost per year is very reasonable. Hmm, I just went to their page and the 10 year option is no longer available. A new 3 year membership is $340. A 3 year renewal is $285. USCCA really turned me off with their marketing. Tim Schmidt is the founder. For a while he was selling himself as some sort of business guru and was affiliated with the "fake it till you make it, get rich quick" crowd. Here is an archive of his old Tribal Marketing web page. https://web.archive.org/web/20090729062856/http://www.tribalmarketingassociation.org/index1z-LIVE.html That entire scene is so sleazy I would not want to deal with anyone who willingly associates with it. That is my personal opinion. I guess he is still in the "mentor for hire" biz. It is hard to tell because there are so many broken links on his page. https://www.timschmidt.com/ If you have USCCA coverage and are happy with it, good for you. The guy just gives me the creeps.
  2. I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask but can IL residents still order ammo online or does that have to go through a FFL California style? They crammed so much crap into PICA I'm not sure what is still legal.
  3. Bummer, I was going to ask about sword canes. I don't suppose a CCL covers a sword cane? Where do boot knives land on the legality spectrum?
  4. I apologize for bringing up such an old thread but I have a friend in a similar situation. He spent a few days in an institution. They then pulled his FOID. This happened years ago and he has not had any issues since. What is the first step in getting it back? As long as it has been 5 years does he just need to apply and see what they say? Thanks
  5. Applied 2/12/2015 No Prints CCL was in mail box 6/12/2015 New Foid came day after
  6. Is there anyway to find out if IL uses the NICS check along with their own records search? I would think every state would do that but I guess some don't.
  7. I am surprised TX doesn't recognize the IL licence. I was looking in to what it took to carry in MD. They, like IL, do not recognize any license other than their own. I looked up what states they can carry in and was surprised to see they get TX and we don't. If I am reading this right TX doesn't require reciprocity: The governor shall negotiate an agreement with any other state that provides for the issuance of a license to carry a concealed handgun under which a license issued by the other state is recognized in this state or shall issue a proclamation that a license issued by the other state is recognized in this state if the attorney general of the State of Texas determines that a background check of each applicant for a license issued by that state is initiated by state or local authorities or an agent of the state or local authorities before the license is issued. For purposes of this subsection, "background check" means a search of the National Crime Information Center database and the Interstate Identification Index maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I would assume that IL does a FBI background check as well as scouring the records of all the PDs in the state. Anyone know of a particular reason TX recognizes MD but not IL?
