mauserme Posted October 30, 2019 at 12:35 AM Author Share Posted October 30, 2019 at 12:35 AM They are going to negotiate an amendment to satisfy a Senator or two. I thought it couldn't be amended, and it was simply an up or down vote at this point? Am I mistaken on that? There's been a little talk of some sort of amendment, perhaps on a different bill. Rangerdeepv Posted October 30, 2019 at 01:09 AM Share Posted October 30, 2019 at 01:09 AM It appears they can do anything. Remember the Dealer Licensing bill last year? Supposedly it didn't make it past the yearly election cycle. A term called sine die? Well it was signed into law by JB after it was supposedly gone. 2A4Cook Posted October 30, 2019 at 12:23 PM Share Posted October 30, 2019 at 12:23 PM Well, SB1966 had nothing to do with "fix" the FOID, either. They're Democrats, they do whatever the heck they want to do, law, procedure and precedent be damned. They'll throw an amendment onto a live bill that has nothing to do with gun control. Geez, look what they've done to the impeachment "process" in D.C.

Molly B. Posted October 30, 2019 at 01:16 PM Share Posted October 30, 2019 at 01:16 PM A bill that is up for concurrence, like SB1966 can't be amended but they can gut and replace language in another bill and send it through the process. So technically a House bill that has passed over to the Senate could be amended and then quickly sent back over to the House for concurrence. So technically a House bill that has passed over to the Senate could be amended and then quickly sent back over to the House for concurrence. So, it's important to keep in contact with your senator and express your opposition to SB1966 and any attempt to circumvent the process.
