We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—...
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.   (2 Corinthians 4 NIV)

On 5/25/2017, Superintendent Eddie Johnson predicted a 50% reduction is Chicago violence within 3 years of SB1722 becoming law.  The bill was signed into law on 6/23/2017. The clock is now ticking.

Though many bills were moved from second to third reading in both bodies yesterday, the bills we're currently watching were not among them. Similarly, our lone resolution of interest remains on floor calendars unchanged from yesterday's session.

As a reminder, I have mid-day appointments that will keep me away from the forum during session today and tomorrow. Any help keeping track of new developments will be a greatly appreciated.

The House and Senate Senate are again scheduled for 12:00 Noon.

So ISRA just sent out an alert that an amendment turning what sounds like a shell bill into an anti gun bill is coming any moment now. Any further info from our sources yet?

There's some talk about a Senate bill on which she just became the chief sponsor. No sign of the amendment yet.

To recap the day so far, the House came to order will all members present. SO far, they've dealt only with resolutions, points of personal interest and announcements.

The Senate has not yet convened.

A newsletter I got this morning mentions HB-96, I don’t know if it is related to the ISRA alert, but I thought I would share it. It states :

FOID Cards may soon cost $200

We could see some major changes to the cost of getting a FOID card in the near future.

Heading into the last three weeks of session and anything can happen. Illinois HB-96. Rep. Willis has been working with anti-gunners to pass what they call FOID reform. What it really is, is gun control.

FOID would go up to $200 for first timers. Here is the breakdown of pricing.
+ Cut the FOID back to 5 years and making it $50, ($100 for the current 10 year).
+ The State Police can charge for the background check fee which is $32.50
+ Required fingerprints most vendors are charging $65-75 for live scan.
= $200 FOID card

It appears as Rep. Willis and others don’t want to have poor people be able to afford the right to self defense or enjoy the shooting sports.

We expect to see a new version of the FOID reform bill this week as the clock is ticking. For the time being, some big ticket items like magazine bans and semi-auto bans appear to be off the table.

With only three weeks left of session, you’ll want to contact your representatives today!”
Void the FOID!
