InterestedBystander Posted February 19, 2020 at 10:43 PM Share Posted February 19, 2020 at 10:43 PM (edited) Well, I assume no letters from the ISP so I'll ask whats the expire date on his FOID card? What does it show on the ISPFSB portal? What does the private transfer verification site return? Just to make sure there was not an error at the dealer. InterestedBystander Posted February 20, 2020 at 12:35 AM Share Posted February 20, 2020 at 12:35 AM (edited) You are not his sponsor Just asking as it would seem a naturalOr his motherMust have a sponsor who is a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian does not have to have a FOID Card, but must be eligible for a FOID Card. If you arent careful, you can get your FOID yanked for going on court supervision for a minor traffic violation. Instances where this has actually happened?Discussed on board previously. Firearms clause "hidden" in default court conditions so if you dind't catch and get it removed...revoked and you dont know it. edit: http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71770. Just mentioned in case it was something more subtle since a sponsor does not necessarily have to have a FOID. Molly B. Posted February 20, 2020 at 03:10 PM Share Posted February 20, 2020 at 03:10 PM No, I was referring to this change in the FOID Act. He or she is 21 years of age or over, or if he or she is under 21 years of age that he or she has never been convicted of a misdemeanor other than a traffic offense or adjudged delinquent and is an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces or has the written consent of his or her parent or legal guardian to possess and acquire firearms and firearm ammunition, provided, however, that such parent or legal guardian is not an individual prohibited from having a Firearm Owner's Identification Card and files an affidavit with the Department as prescribed by the Department stating that he or she is not an individual prohibited from having a Card or the active duty member of the United States Armed Forces under 21 years of age annually submits proof to the Department of State Police, in a manner prescribed by the Department;
Quiet Observer Posted February 20, 2020 at 03:46 PM Share Posted February 20, 2020 at 03:46 PM Simply being a member of the Guard or a reservist does not qualify as being on active duty. Weekends and 2 week summer camp do not qualify as active duty in most cases. From the above it looks as if the active service, e.g. a unit, or individual, activation would have to be at least one year. the active duty member of the United States Armed Forces under 21 years of age annually submits proof to the Department of State Police, in a manner prescribed by the Department;
