Cruehead Posted March 31, 2020 at 01:34 PM Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 01:34 PM I just applied for my ccl yesterday and it asked a question about ajudicated minor I wasnt for sure what that meant so I checked no. So my question is over 32 years ago I did get in trouble as a 15 year old and Im pretty sure it was a felony burglary but I have never been in any trouble since that time I have had my void card for over 20 years will this disqualify me from a ccl? I live in Kane county any feedback would be great
Molly B. Posted March 31, 2020 at 02:53 PM Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 02:53 PM It is possible that it will disqualify you from being eligible for the CCL. If you have a felony burglary on your record, it could also cause your FOID card to be revoked. There is an appeal process though to get it reinstated. Please keep us posted on your situation. Do you have a copy of the conviction?
Cruehead Posted March 31, 2020 at 03:02 PM Author Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 03:02 PM No sure don’t have a copy I was 15 at the time and it was not an adult conviction so I guess I will just have to wait and see since I just summitted it yesterday I started looking to see if I could find the record but nothing shows up on the county website and of course they are not open because of covid
mkhalil61 Posted March 31, 2020 at 04:27 PM Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 04:27 PM Hey I know someone that was in a similar situation. I would recommend you go and get fingerprinted in order to receive your comprehensive background check. This will allow you to confirm that the arrest/felony is on your background and will show up when they run you. I know in cook county you are able to expunge a burglary felony conviction as a juvenile not sure about the regulations in Kane county- I would recommend that you look into expunging that arrest if you are able to. NRApistol Posted March 31, 2020 at 07:13 PM Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 07:13 PM Go to the circuit clerk in the county where you were arrested and ask for a copy of the court charge and the final disposition. That will show where you stand. The ISP were using arrest records not disposition records. THEN sit tight until you hear from the ISP.
PewPewBangBang Posted March 31, 2020 at 08:46 PM Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 08:46 PM Did the offense also happen in IL? That can make a huge difference. And if so was that also in Kane County (I can give you a fairly good idea of what the expungement process looks like if that’s the case)? IL will not give any information about juvenile cases over the phone or online. Everything has to be done in-person.

Cruehead Posted March 31, 2020 at 09:15 PM Author Share Posted March 31, 2020 at 09:15 PM The local pd sent the prints to the iSP? For you I would be shocked if the aurora police station would do that.what should I tell them?
Cruehead Posted April 2, 2020 at 12:35 AM Author Share Posted April 2, 2020 at 12:35 AM Just for the heck of it I ran myself on the ISP site and it says no record on file but I’m still gonna go to the county and make sure my record has been espunged
mkhalil61 Posted April 2, 2020 at 05:05 AM Share Posted April 2, 2020 at 05:05 AM You have to get fingerprinted to confirm. I would call up your local PD and see if they can fingerprint you and send to ISP (most local PD do this).
